Weird little frog dude with a lit match and text block that just says “arson” with a period at the end.

I might put this in my dissertation as an expository footnote with an image.

WYD? Oh, just Saturday afternoon stuff…
The worst most expensive free rescue dog is wearing an Elizabethan collar while sitting in the back her least favorite spot: the back of a car I specifically bought to comfortably haul her around on adventures. A McDonald’s plain cheeseburger is in her future, but she doesn’t care. She’s wearing a cone of shame because she won’t leave her inflamed toe beans alone. So I took her to the emergency vet on a Saturday because I’m cruel. I’m so cruel that she had a cheeseburger AND four-piece nuggies.

But, yeah, single women with dogs are this country’s biggest problem or whatevs…

The last day in archives. The last pull of the day. The last box of the pull. Found what I was looking for. Everything did, in fact, just get better.

There is a sign that says “Welcome to America’s Metro” in every station, and I have questions. Also… this statue still goes hard in the paint, baby!

Actually, maybe that’s also incorrect. I’m not sure that I celebrate all retirees or pilots. Some of us are awful.

A pelican invades a lady’s personal space to look her dead in the eye and exclaim that history is a source of continuity that helps us contextualize present through the past. This kind of subtlety requires a deep understanding and appreciation of historical events, typically found in exploring g primary sources and critically engaging with secondary material.

History is lit.

You know what you should do? You should take those old dress uniform boots from that one unit you were in, and you should replace the laces with little pink velvet ribbons, and you should wear them!! Do it.

I get it. Maintaining an encyclopedic museum is not an inexpensive proposition, and ticketing is a way to off-set operating costs when funding to the arts are cut and the cost of preserving a collection in perpetuity continues to rise. But, umm… this was “A Choice.”
Meme text asks “How does the British Museum have so many incredible artifacts compared to other museums?”

Guy with a suspicious haircut answers “The secret ingredient is crime.”

And that’s not wrong, folks. Honestly, like… what is the point of museums doing the work to decolonize collections, create engagement spaces to reflect on structural power, and focus on accessibility if they’re just going to charge admission from the very communities the artifacts were stolen from originally?

This is going back on all of my syllabi:
Address Unknown is a short novel created using letters and telegrams between two friends during the late 1930s and the rise of Third Reich in Germany. Originally published by the Reader’s Digest without credit to the author, reprints can be found that properly credit the work to Katherine Kressmann Taylor today.

It demonstrates how “primary sources” can be used to illuminate complex historical events that have significant context today.
