Or: sweeping is you cleaning the floor. Is vacuuming? What about pressing start on a roomba? Scheduling a roomba? Asking Alexa to schedule a roomba? And if the technology use means you didn't do it yourself ... well a broom is a technology too.

How much of something do you have to have done yourself with your own body for it to count as something YOU did? Take making a cake, for example. Did you make the cake if you bought it from a store? If no, what about icing a cake that you bought? Hiring a baker? Using a cake mix? Where's the line?

During WW2 the Bishop of Ghent took the panels apart and sent them out separately among friends and sympathizers so the Nazis wouldn't be able to steal them. He was successful in keeping it out of Nazi hands.

This is the Ghent Alterpiece in situ in Saint Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent. Amazing! The whole top level is currently being restored, so pictured here the top level is all reproductions, but we DID see the original, restoration underway, just pictures of that were not allowed.

Which is to say: I liked the Nolan Odyssey movie quite a lot. But I'm not at all surprised Emily Wilson didn't. I even agree with much of her critique on its merits. None of the food DID look good, though I think in the case of Circe at least that was very deliberate and effectively so.

I generally don't like Arthurian adaptations, because they never do what I would do. But that doesn't mean they're bad or shouldn't have been made. I'm glad, in the abstract, that they exist! They're just usually not for me because I'm too close.
