Edmonton -- Red Deer -- Calgary: what a crap neglected highway that is, even more dangerous with the increased speed limit and far too many double big rig trucks. We had effective passenger rail service there in years past. Why not now?

An audience, dressed in orange shirts (and rain coats) sit on a foggy, slightly drizzly morning in front of a stage set up in front of the parliamentary visitors centre. In the background, one can see the construction equipment renovating Centre Block.

For #MountainMonday here’s a September #photo of a #peak in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park in #Alberta 🇨🇦 That is #Mount #Rae, the tallest peak in the immediate area (3,218 m/10,558 ft) & the highest front-range summit visible from #Calgary. [Click photo for more info] #photography #landscape #nature
Mount Rae was named in 1859 after Dr. John Rae (1813–1893), a Scottish surgeon, fur trader, & Arctic explorer. Employed by the Hudson’s Bay Company, he was renowned for his extensive surveying of the Canadian Arctic coast. Mount Rae makes a nice backdrop to Elbow Lake, the source of the Elbow River, one of the two main rivers (along with the Bow) which flow through Calgary.

We will never be trusted again. Reports confirm that U.S. officials approached Quebec directly about reducing tariffs, including on aluminum. Quebec alerted Ottawa, and no separate Quebec-U.S. trade deal resulted.
duggandanielle192 8h
Wow. It's officially been confirmed: U.S. authorities tried to bypass Ottawa to cut a separate, backdoor trade deal with Quebec for aluminum.
As reported
by CTV News, Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette revealed that a U.S. representative approached provincial officials offering to reduce heavy tariffs, but she "shut the door immediately." Instead of taking the bait, Quebec stood united with the rest of Canada to maintain a common front.
