I found it searching online. There weren't many compact flash based players, so it wasn't hard to find. It's the Nex IIe from Frontier Labs. I remember it feeling cheap-plasticy, but it worked fine. Once smart phones came along, the standalone mp3 player market mostly ended.

One of my favorite interactions was at the Hyatt Regency Reunion for Furry Fiesta in March 2020 (just before the pandemic lockdowns). An Indian family was coming up the escalator from touring Reunion Tower, and this cat was at the top of the escalator. They stood there totally bewildered.

On August 1, 2015, the first Texas Furry Siesta was being held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Addison, the home of first years of Furry Fiesta. When Fiesta moved to a larger venue, there was a leftover hotel credit that was used to fund a furmeet which grew into fur con, currently the 24th largest.

I worked on chips and boards for this machine in the 1990s. We hired Frog Design for the cabinet artistic design. The follow-on models a few years later looked like the boring boxes and racks that we see today, the start of the end of cool designs.

I bookmarked the VR world. BART and the DC Metrorail are sister systems with basically the same trains and technology with some cosmetic differences. I think the Metro stations are more visually interesting with the "waffle cathedral" look.
