Our IT department just got this excellent spam from an AI vendor. Apparently we have been running our own server room since 1862! I was not born yet, so I'm very curious what "servers" we were hosting back then. Maybe they should run their AI through another AI […] [Original post on ipv6.social]
Screenshot of a spam message that reads:

Gustavus has run its own campus server rooms since 1862, so | imagine the hardware has piled up across buildings over the years.

| am Peter Langford at PODTECH. We build datacenter management software with Al-driven monitoring. One university IT team cut unplanned outages 40%
rooms.

We could run the same read-only assessment for Gustavus, done in about two weeks. If it shows nothing useful, you owe us nothing.

Would a short reply be easier than a call to see If this fits?

Best,

Apparently Cloudflare sees nothing wrong with that website. Looks like the site changed and when I go there now, it's completely different. Now I just get redirected to random websites.

We had a couple accounts get compromised here last night. Looks like it started with a fake evite to a party. Users clicked the invite, ended up on a good looking fake Google login page that proxies or something, then they probably man in the middle the MFA and […] [Original post on ipv6.social]

Here is my somewhat regular, beginning of the school semester, post about #IPv6 vs #IPv4 traffic on our college campus. IPv6 traffic is still generally twice that of IPv4. Maybe a little more IPv6 now than this time last year.
Graph showing all internet traffic to Gustavus Adolphus College. Light blue is IPv6 and dark blue is IPv4 incoming traffic. IPv6 is generally 2x that of IPv4.

I try to take a few photos on almost every ride I take. I enjoy it when I manage to take a photo that makes my friends wonder for a second how I was able to take the photo. #biketooter #cycling

Google's #ipv6 stats page ( www.google.com/intl/en/ipv6/statist… ) was not updating for a bit and I stopped checking it regularly. Finally took a look today and it appears there was a new record high on March 28th. 50.10% !!!!!!

Oh, great. #YouTube thinks some large chunks of our #IPv6 ranges are creating unusual traffic. The odd thing is that we have 2 large ipv6 ranges and at least two /64's ( one from each ) are blocked where other /64's are not. And #ipv4 seems to be unaffected […] [Original post on ipv6.social]

Time for another very irregular regular update on #IPv6 compared to #IPv4 usage on a dual stacked college network. As you can see from the graph, for most of the past 24 hours, incoming IPv6 traffic is significantly higher than incoming IPv4 traffic. This has been the case for many years now.
Network graph showing the past 24 hours of internet traffic. The darker blue color is IPv4 and the lighter blue color is IPv6 traffic. IPv6 traffic is generally double that of the ipv4 traffic.

Looks like a good IPv6 day on campus today. As is the case most days, IPv6 traffic continues to be more than double the IPv4 traffic. In this graph of the past 24 hours, the lighter blue is incoming traffic over IPv6 and the darker blue is incoming IPv4 traffic. #ipv6 #ipv4 #networking

I think Cloudflare radar is telling me that web browsers on our network are using #IPv6 90% of the time? Or is it that 90% of our clients have working IPv6 networking? Either way, I'd rather it was closer to 100%. :)

Just another typical #ipv6 heavy day here at a small dual stacked college in the US. IPv6 traffic being generally double that of IPv4.

First day of classes here at a small college and #IPv6 is being used for the majority of the traffic as usual. Dark blue is incoming IPv4 traffic, lighter blue is incoming IPv6 traffic. Basically every user device on our network is dual stacked.

What?!? Digicert is removing support for #ipv6 ? Upon further reading, they state that they are moving to a CDN and must remove support for IPv6 addresses. What CDN does not support IPv6 these days? Not that I use DigiCert anyway, but I don't like seeing […] [Original post on ipv6.social]
Hello,

On January 10, 2025, at 08:00 MST (15:00 UTC), DigiCert is moving to new dedicated IPv4 addresses and removing support for IPV6 addresses.

Action may be required if you or your customers use allowlists.

If you or your customers use allowlists, you need to update your firewalls to allow outbound connectivity to the new IPv4 addresses before January 10. Otherwise, you may experience disruption to your certificate verification process.

See DigiCert Certificate Status IP Addresses to see the new IPv4 addresses.
