On the morning of the 31st of July, Friday, the wave finally reached Sweden. At 0812z, a tidal gauge in Stockholm measured a peak crest of 0.314 m, completing a crest-to-trough swing of ~12 cm as the surge ended. This 'meteotsunami' traveled ~450 nm. webcritech.jrc.ec.europa.eu/SeaLevelsDb

Shortly after, Sassnitz measured a double-peak surge, hitting 5.480 m at 2133z and again at 2351z. As the water moved, it caused a massive crest-to-trough drawdown of ~50 cm, bottoming out at 4.980 m around 0209z. Continues...

Starting by 1630z, Warnemünde measured a rapid surge of ~20 cm, rising from a ~5.280 m baseline to peak at 1838z around 5.480 m. Across the basin, Klintholm Havn (DK) recorded a massive spike to 63cm above MSL around 2030z, immediately followed by a 47 cm drop down to a 16 cm trough. Continues...

An interesting phenomenon occurred in the southern Baltic Sea / Arkona Basin Thursday evening into Friday, coinciding with thunderstorms passing by. A local 'meteotsunami' was observed by tide gauges, starting from Warnemünde (Rostock) and faintly measured all the way up in Stockholm.

This means, unlike 2025's 27 tornado reports, 2026 is gonna be on the calmer side. From May to September will the most probable number of tornadoes in Denmark be around 10-20, in terms with 2026's analogs of 2023 (11), 2021 (16), 2020 (14), 2011 (9) and the 21-year average of 14.5 tornadoes.

In Western, Northern Europe and Scandinavia, CFS forecasts a rather zonal flow to dominate, potentially involving longer periods of dry spells and minimal severe weather. CFS forecasts suggest that June and September will likely be the most active months in the season.

As Storm Dave (or "Påskeorkanen") continues its eastward movement through Scandinavia, we're starting to tally up the damage done in Denmark. With peak recorded gusts of 36 m/s, possibly higher unrecorded, it brought with it some intense damage. Damage is provided below.

The Jels Event back on August 24, 2024 After over a year of analysis, DNSROP has gained confidence in calling the event tornadic, and thus will be listed as such in DNSROP's survey log. This comes after a exhausting remote survey of the event, its damage points, and any media related to it.

Hail Activity In strong contrast to 2024, 2025's season featured minimal hail activity, with the largest stones reaching 2,5 cm (~1 inch) in size on two occasions, namely June 1 and August 23. In 2024, by contrast, the largest stone reached ~10 cm, four times the size of 2025's largest.

[ENGLISH] CFS forecasts suggest the same from July to August this year. Using this, we can publish a rough estimate of the tornado count for 2025. From May to September, the likely number of tornadoes in Denmark will be around 14-22 tornadoes (2004-2024 average of 14.5 tornadoes).

[ENGLISH] 2024, 2022 and 2019 (etc.) were active storm-wise, but what did they have in common? A quasi-stationary Icelandic low-pressure area, below-average precipitation and temperature anomalies over the North Sea, and higher precipitation and temperature anomalies over Denmark and Sweden.
