Always scan the bookshelves of tv shows, kids! I was watching The Lowdown last night and saw a copy of my first book, Outlaws of America, peaking over Ethan Hawke’s shoulder! Really hoping it plays a part in the show’s unfolding mystery.
Ethan Hawke in the Lowdown stares off camera in front of bookshelves. I circled in purple where my book Outlaws of America is on the shelf.

Without denying the severity of the attacks now underway, I’d say students have been on the chopping block for a long time—including the thousands of students arrested and dozens facing expulsion or even deportation for the offense of protesting genocide
NYT headline: “As Trump goes after universities, students are now on the chopping block”

This chart from the NYT opinion page is an obscenity. Climate policy is unmentioned, the ongoing coup which has seen 200,000+ people fired is presented as less consequential than Ukraine policy, and the active re-segregation of the workforce is both positive & inconsequential.
NYT: “10 columnists and writers rate what mattered in trump’s first full month” over a scatterplot chart measuring negative to positive impact and less to more consequential. “DEI” and “trans issues” are at or near “positive impact, less consequential.” The most consequential is “Ukraine,” the most negative is “Eric Adams case.”

LAT with quite the typo in its obituary for OJ Simpson
Obituary for OJ Simpson describing his release from incarceration says “Long before the city woke up on a fall morning in 2017, Trump walked out of Lovelock Correctional Center outside Reno, a free man for the first time in 9 years.”

With a poster (by @laurachowfun.bsky.social) to boot!
A ribbon reading “This is how change happens” in multicolored letters over a bright blue background with some puffy clouds and a series of brightly colored concentric circles reading “our actions are working/ they are not enough” “nothing we do is sufficient/ everything we do matters” “we must be strategic/ we must operate on multiple fronts simultaneously” “time is of the essence/ we have to act for the long haul”

I posted something on Twitter yesterday that @prisonculture.bsky.social liked enough to suggest it be made into a poster and @laurachowfun.bsky.social was talented enough to do. I am so excited to share it—and you can too: bit.ly/ChangeArt
A ribbon reading “this is how change happens” is centered over a drawing of a bright blue sky with overlapping circles reading “our actions are working, they are not enough; nothing we do is sufficient, everything we do matters; we must be strategic, we must operate on multiple fronts simultaneously; time is of the essence, we have to act for the long haul”

The fight against #CopCity requires our support. I’ve got three copies of #StayedOnFreedom to give away to anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more (preferably more!) to @atlanta_press, @ATLSolFund, or @CommunityMvt. Send me the receipt, your address, & if you want it signed!
