Our bachelor student Petr showing attendees from Letní Škola NANO2025 (organized by K. Stejskalová) the dept. of Nanocatalysis labs, including deposition machines, which use magnetron sputtering and mass selection) to prepare atomically precise clusters and the experimental set-ups for their testing
To the right, Petr Vítek in a light blue t-shirt is showing a presentation on a projection screen to 5 students (in dark blue t-shirts) about the cluster deposition apparatus inside a laboratory. There are large canisters of liquid nitrogen on the right side, in front of Petr and electronics above the canisters.

🔥Turn up the heat 🌡️ Hydrothermal treatment transforms amorphous ZrO₂ into stable, mesoporous monoclinic phase. 🔬 Then, a light milling adds defects. 💡 The result? ZrO₂ with boosted visible-light photocatalysis and serious promise as a smart catalyst support. Read here 👇👇👇 doi.org/10.1039/D4MR...
The graphical abstract of cited paper in the post, it has a blue background and it includes three sub-images and text. The title of the image reads "Controlling phase transition and defect structure". Under the title on the right, there is a black and white image of two hammers breaking up a stone-like material with a description "mechanochemical treatment", next to it is a simple schemiatic depictind an Erlenmayer flask with a liquid inside with a description "hydrothermal treatment". From these two images an arrow points to a third image which is a black and white scanning electron microscopy image of the surface of the catalyst with a UV-Vis spectra overlay, the description reads "dye photodegradation on ZrO defects".

Our PhD students, Karolína Simkovičová and Stanislav Valtera, represented the Department of Nanocatalysis at the conference "Heyrovský Institute opens its door" on May 15, presenting their works on dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons. #Amulet (Advanced MUltiscaLe materials for key Enabling Technologies)
Two young researchers, a woman and a man, stand smiling in front of scientific posters at an event hosted by the Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry. The poster on the left describes a research on oxidative dehydrogenation of propane over alumina-supported copper nanoparticles titled "Selective Low-Temperature Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propane over Alumina-Supported Copper Nanoparticles". The poster on the right describes research on oxidative dehydrogenation of cyclohexene using supported metal clusters titled "Switching Selectivity in the Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Cyclohexene by Atomic-Precision Control of Catalyst Composition".
In front of the researchers is a white table displaying two 3D printed models of textured surfaces (nanodiamond and blank Si chip) with a reprasentation of bimetalic clusters on them, a gold custom made reaction cell and a disassembled reaction cell, which is also 3D printed.
