This AI image might be attempting to show Trump & Harp, however, I'm pretty sure the original image (if my memory serves me correctly) was of Trump & Ivanka kissing each other (just about) on the cheek, with Ivanka wearing a very similar outfit. So AI tried changing the kiss location by 1-2cm 🤷🏻‍♀️

Presumably, they were unprepared for the PR backlash they would receive for releasing highly personal files (medical files). I'm not sure how they were unprepared though, especially after the child daycare backlash gave them a taste of the public's limits towards what file releases are "tolerated"

For example, it could easily hack & shut down the National Grid because it seemed the quickest way to complete the task it was given. We'd be returned to the Stone Age & no more AI intervention would be required to destroy us, we'd do it ourselves. Ppl go crazy during power cuts.

The OpenAI/Australia announcement, once again, shows how little oversight &/or control there has been for AI models so far. And, for those ppl (Trump etc) refusing safety regs or calling it a hoax, if a model can hack 1 site, it can, in all likelihood, hack them all. What's safe about that? ...

The words 'embarrassing', 'incompetence', plus many, many others (including lots of less family-friendly ones), come to mind. How can the agency that investigates cyber crime not know how to a) secure their systems, b) encrypt all personal info in case 'a)' fails I should be shocked, but I'm not.

While I am aggressively opposed to malicious hacking in all its awful forms, tbh, this post produced an ethics-bending reaction from me as I wouldn't mind Shiny Hunters hacking Trump & his inner circle to reveal all the hate, lies, & corruption we all know is going on but can't definitively prove 😔

P.S. Apologies Zoe, I accidentally posted my message halfway through writing it & had to delete, edit, & repost it. It bugs me when that happens to posts I receive notifications for. P.P.S. I wish Bluesky posts could be edited, but, any edits would remove any likes or reposts already received.

I think being able to put a QR code on your front door, sensitive sites (like hospitals/schools/military bases), or even on your person (or a sign saying 'please don't record my door/home/face/entire body') would be a huge step towards removing the 'pervert glasses' tag + increase usage & acceptance

@zsk.bsky.social Just read your article (www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...) & like HTC's idea of adding the 'stop recording' privacy protection. However, I think all AI-enabled cameras should also be disabled by 'no recording' signage &/or geo-fencing to protect security/cultural sites & ppl's homes...

They were labelled 'pervert glasses'. Will a camera-free version transform their image?
Meta has unveiled audio-only smart glasses, with some questioning whether it is a response to the backlash over privacy.

Me too. I don't know why they don't just increase the fuel flow rate limit during quali to allow the drivers their flat out quali laps, and then keep the current limits & engine/battery split during races. The racing has been brilliant, even on 'energy poor' tracks, I don't see the need to change

I really worry about ppl's lack of imagination because, despite being a huge tech geek & not being an apocalypse-level doomer (yet 😂), given 1 minute to think of ways that even current models could kill us, I'd run out of paper before I could list them all, esp if 'bad actors' were involved too

On a more serious note. I think all the recent comments are a coordinated strategy by OpenAI/Anthropic etc to force this issue on to legislators as they know that start-up culture & a multi $1tn competitive environment isn't suited to playing it safe. Better to force equal safety regs on all of them

As an example, a plane being required to have 2 or more independent hydraulic systems in case 1 fails. Even in non-life critical sectors, Monzo running 2 independent 'servers' (& upgrades them separately) so that if the primary fails for any reason, switching to the backup is relatively quick & easy

@theothebald.bsky.social @zsk.bsky.social I'm baffled by the NATS failure y/day, plus them not learning from past failures. With NATS so critical to safety & the economy, why don't they have independent back up systems, just like the planes they control have for their flight critical systems?

I understand driver's viewpoint is important. However, I'm disappointed that changes have been, & will be, made purely to satisfy the driver's need for 100% push laps. From a fan's POV all we can see is tight qualifying sessions & long-running, intense, close racing w/o the easy DRS style overtakes

dmw44.bsky.social @dmw44.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
Pirelli getting their act together has helped cars follow more closely too (even if they've ballooned the PSI to do it), but teams/drivers having to decide where (& crucially, where not) to deploy has made for brilliant close racing & as the season's gone on, less of the easy DRS style overtakes

dmw44.bsky.social @dmw44.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
We now have >½ a season to judge: Result 👍🏼 Totally agree. Obviously, the teams will find aero performance during the cycle to remove some of the ability to follow closely, but having an energy deficit + 'energy poor' tracks has provided great racing. Shame that element will be reduced from 2027

Tbf, it's the least secure way to connect to the internet Tbh, given how cheap data is these days I'm not sure why ppl still use public WiFi, especially as most data connections are many, many times faster than public WiFi. I get 70mb/s in my house, in rural Dorset, 2x the area's part-fibre speed 😂

Crypto miners caused the 1st major production bottleneck of high-end graphics cards when the BTC gold rush started, but there are now only 5% of Bitcoins left to mine (+ with halvings & higher electricity costs) those graphics cards have a much more lucrative use. I think this shift was inevitable

Agree this points to a planet that's metal dense rather than "rocky". Although a planetary core that's 2.5x bigger than the entire Earth would make for a truly enormous planet if it had Earth's rocky mantel. I'd guess it was a gas giant's core, with Jupiter's core layers ranging from 4.5 to 30g/cm³

There wasn't a black hole mentioned in the article. It discussed sky survey satellites catching the first light created by a star's supernova & subsequent observations, with SN 2026gzf denoting the supernova's year and the order of discovery, so 'gzf' equals the 5,414th supernovae discovered in 2026

It's worth noting: Capital Gains Tax only applies if you sell an asset for a profit. So, it doesn't apply if you have crypto that has gained in value but you haven't sold them. You gained massively, lost the entire profit, got jacked off, & sold for no profit lol. Or, gained <£3000 per tax year

...It's interesting you mention Gemini/Grok. We always hear about OpenAI/Anthropic's frontier hacking models but little is heard about similar models from Google/xAI. Elon obviously loves "a bit" of attention though so I'd imagine we'll soon see a tweet (or 500) about a contrived Grok breakout

I think the upcoming IPO's are the primary cause of that cynicism, given the financial benefits of news coverage pre-launch, especially with both firms seemingly taking turns with their announcements. I'm not sure the capabilities are being denied though, just the PR hype around announcements

I agree it's a bad look for a tech company to lose control of their tech & committing basic testing errors like allowing internet access (especially with Anthropic having no clue at the time). However, there seemed to be, imho, an element of 'yeah, but we did it first' in Anthropic's announcement 🤷🏻‍♀️

@joetidy.bsky.social just read www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... & wondered... I know AI needs some internet access, even for in-house testing, so air-gapped servers aren't possible, but surely a sandbox should have secondary protections like IP restrictions so models can't reach the wider internet?

My 2 main thoughts on this: 1) #OpenAI has a lot to learn about 'sandboxing' - supposedly, a safe, secure test environment. OpenAI managed to create a sandbox that was neither safe nor secure, which is worrying! 2) This colossal failure is now being used as marketing for its AI. Also worrying!
