Just a random thought: Military coups often are led by officers below the rank of general. Hegseth wants to reduce the number of generals.

Democracy is a quaint notion for the MAGA Supreme Court.

Easy: hire Pep. Both Tuchel and Southgate made poor in-game decisions. In 2022, England needed a goal late with a free kick in a prime position. Southgate, with TAA and Ward Prowse on the bench, had Rashford take it. Unsuccessfully. If Gordon was done, Tuchel should have put Rashford in his place.

Klien does history the Fox News way: pretend to be knowledgeable by making factless assertions.

I disagree about the press. Overall, the media has been good for the OrangeBlob because they still report on him as if he is a serious person. Every reportage about him should begin with: "Trump lied." It does not matter the topic, he invariably lies.

CNN sane-washing the agreement with Iran saying Trump got what he wanted.

It is a characteristic of authoritarian rulers to rarely go into spaces or locations they do not control. They prefer to move from one palace to another if they travel. Trump fits this pattern and now his ballroom gets a boost because it will be "secure."

So much of the so-called main stream media are working hard to make VP Vance appear to be a serious person with ideas. The media is desperate to find "normal" to fill the vacuum of political and moral leadership in the MAGA world. Too bad that Vance is an empty suit except for his extremism.

Every show on MSNOW, NBC, CNN, ABC, CNBC should have only one topic to question and analyze: Where are the Republicans? Don't give drivel about the Democrats should do this or do that. Nothing changes until enough Republicans stand up to force change. Nothing.

There is only one question that should be asked of all Republicans running for Congress: Why do you enable Trump?
000
David Sterling @dmsterling.bsky.social · 01/04/2026
Yes but will he give power or go straight to outright dictatorship?

Why would MAGA watch CBS when they have Fox and Newsmax to feed their victimization? The CBS audience was the political and social center, especially Inependent voters.

It seems that the main stream media is desperately trying to portray Vance as a serious person with real ideas. The Atlantic, especially, seems to be pushing this narrative. The only thing real about Vance is his ambition. Other than that, he is an empty suit.

Standard Republican playboy at work: Drive the country into the ground, suffer electoral wipeout, then immediately start screaming that the Democrats have not fixed everything while doing all they can to block changes. The post 2026 and 2028 elections politics are sadly predictable.

When the Senate confirmed Kennedy and Patel, maybe some of them thought 'how much harm could they really do'. As Patel would say: Hold my beer.

If Trump is even semi-coherent in the state of the union speech, most of the media will fall over themselves to give him a passing grade if not praise.

'Trump declares himself dictator.' This should be the lead story of every semi-normal news operation. In a recent post, Trump said the states have to do what the federal government tells them and he decides what the national government tells them. A dictatorship plain as day.

Biden, Harris and Democrats failed in messaging about inflation even as it was (slowly) declining. Trump is failing on messaging while making inflation worse. Also Trump just lies and makes up numbers. Biden stuck to the facts which were not as exciting as Trump's lies.

How about 'Republicans failed to reach an agreement' with Democrats instead of blaming Democrsts who are trying to salvage healthcare. The party of cruelty is responsible.

I did not go to law school but I am guessing any 1st year law student making a serious argument that the government can just ignore the 4th Amendment would be invited to pursue a different career. Especially when the argument is based on racism and bigotry.

More media sane washing: CNN calling Trump's attack on the Fed unprecedented but saying he also will not go further. Have they learned nothing? That's rhetorical because they obviously have not.

Sad that a handful of Republicans in Congress could change the rush to dictatorship by joining Democrats. A little bit of courage goes a long way but that courage seems a long way away.
