The "centaur" terminology comes from @doctorow.pluralistic.net - a "centaur" is a human leading a machine, and a "reverse centaur" is the other way around, which is how many people interact with LLMs.

Actually, given the massive dumps of (alleged) proofs from LLMs, I think it's more important than ever to take a "centaur" approach where a human directs a small team of agents to take tiny steps with human verification at each step of the way. Is anyone else working on this?

I only made a small part of what I did public when I needed help from other people for verification as the AI had progressed beyond my ability to verify their results. Interestingly, as of today, there are only 3 repos tagged "mutually-unbiased-bases" on GitHub.

I seems I've been scooped by OpenAI. I was working on MUBs over the summer, but using a very different approach than "a swarm of agents". Instead, I took a "centaur" approach of leading a small team of research agents and trying to understand/verify each step: github.com/dlyongemallo...

Claim: There is no set of four mutually unbiased bases in C^6 of the form {I, H1/√6, H2/√6, H3/√6} in which every entry of H1, H2, H3 is a 24th root of unity. Equivalently: no MU quadruple in dimension six can be built from Butson Hadamard matrices in BH(6, 24).
