Sorry for the rant. Some people are passionate about sports, i'm passionate about a low-budget horror franchise Paramount is embarrased to be associated with. Now I'm getting a second cup of #coffee and a croissant.

Kudos if you've read all through this rant. In the end I had a good time watching Crystal Lake and I guess I can accept it as canon going forward, but much like Star Wars midichlorians was a cop out I feel much the same way about this sciencey mutant stuff. I'm not a fan but i'm willing to go […]

Why can't Jason just be an evil force of nature who keeps his mouth shut, breathes heavily, teleports conveniently and kills teenagers? I realize that me liking Jason X, as silly as it is, but to me its a fun distraction that does nothing to lore and introduces Uber-Jason. Crystal Lake emulates […]

I don't know. I'm, not saying the movies make sense and I can suspend disbelief but it's quite jarring. Like in the first movie once Jason drowns it's mama time. She may not have been able to stop his drowning but she will kill anyone and everyone because of the backstory of him being a mutant […]

Jason as a kid is quite the charmer, a kid with a heart of gold, deformed as he may be, and an avid reader who loves the outdoors. It's a speaking part and Jason being just the nicest kid is really rammed home. So when the inevitable bullying/negligence/drowning happens and the body is never […]

It's a Stranger Things goes splatter in a way. The murders are plentiful and gory throughout the series. But expanding lore so fast and furious can easily lay traps and there are several loose ends that really can't be tied up unless there's a season 2 playing out somewhere between movie 1 and 2 […]

This is a long way of saying that the new series, Crystal Lake, takes all this lore into account and tries to build some sort of back story. It embraces the revisionist Jason from the remake but also keeps the original story in a have your cake and eat it too way. We now learn that Jason is […]

There are some great kills in Jason X and humor that actually works. Kane Hodder is back doing his thing, bringing his physicality to Jason. I will skip Freddy vs. Jason in this long-winded recap. but let's also say a few words about the remake from 2009. The remake elaborates on Jasons fate […]

9 movies between 1980 and 1993 is still a great run. But now it takes 8 years before someone greenlights a new Friday the 13th. And it's easily the weirdest one. Jason X is a scifi movie. Earth is dead but a team from a spaceship goes down there to scavenge. They find a cryogenically frozen […]

In Friday the 13th part 9 we learn that Jason cannot be destroyed. He is killed with mortar fire(!), the coroner is overcome by... something and devours Jasons heart and becomes a spiritual Jason and the circle begins again. Except fans didn't go for it. We are now in the year of our lord 1993 […]

After 8 mvies we have established that Jason was a deformed boy who droned, truned into a zombie and eventully learned to speak. I cannot stress enough the illiterate hillbilly atmosphere Jason oozes at this point. But there's more. By part 9 the franchies was sold to New Line Cinema and they […]

Kane Hodder continues his streak in part 8 where Jason for the first time leave his beloved Crystal Lake and go to Manhattan. Yes, it's ridiculous and charming but it doesn't work as a a horror movie. Lore is built though. Jason continues his zombie arc but when chemical waste(?) is flushed […]

We are now at part 7, here Kane Hodder enters the franchise, the only actor to play Jason more than once. If part 6 leaned into the zombie aspect it's full throttle here. There's a girl with psychic powers and they go to Crystal Lake and Jaosn's there and it's a rather tame effort. By now the […]

The scene was never shot and they make a recreation of it with storyboards (so I guess it was in the script for quite a while before being excised). There isn't a whole lot to it though and it's easy to see why they left it, why cloud the lore with a father we've never heard of? Parts 1 and 2 […]

Part 6 really leans into the dead part. Tommy Jarvis (the eponymous kid from part 4 and 5) digs up Jasn, runs an iron spike through his body, lightning strikes and Jason is back. Part 6, besides leaning into the zombie aspect als leans into humor a lot and has a surprisingly cool theme song from […]

By part 5 maybe Jason is finally dead because he is not in this movie at all. It's some random dude who's gone mad, wears a hockey mask and kills people. Not much lore to be had and a forgettable entry. Now, part 6, Jason Lives, is another matter. The kid from part 4 (and 5, we follow him […]

Part 4 treads on in the familiar footsteps. Jason wakes up at the morgue, kills some hospital staff and teleports back to his favorite woodsy part. We still don't care where he lives, A bunch of teens are dispatched and a family is terrorized, final girl gets reversed into final boy, and Jason […]

By part 3 we no longer care where Jason lives. He kills a bunch of bikers and some vacationers and just sort of hangs around. He gets his iconic mask in this part and there's a sub-plot involving a girl who survived an earlier encounter with Jason. This plot point doesn't really go anywhere but […]

To recap established lore: Jason is a special boy (deformed, and I would argue based on the film series, not at his full faculties) who drowned. His mother went mad and killed a bunch of peaople she held responsible. By part 2 it's all Jason, all the time, this time with a sack over his head. We […]

I am a massive fan of Friday the 13th. I was well into my teens before "getting" horror. It was F13 part 4 that did me in. I still adore it to this day and I rewatch it with some regularity. Anyway... Crystal Lake is a new TV series building out a back story for both Jason (the killer in the […]

@jajo Smakfullt gjort. Inte några hårda pans mellan högtalarna. Mer som en omslutande stereomix med inslag av utplacerade instrument. Också ett par decibel högre mixad än den nya stereomixen som också den är riktigt bra med sången mitt i centrum i mixen.
