Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 26/04/2026Last night I stood at the alter of my favourite band, Mumford and Sons, and I fuckin’ worshipped. 020
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 01/01/2026Throughout 2025, I watched all 34 of Steven Spielberg’s feature films in chronological order, an exercise that just made me love his work even more. It has earnestness and humanity, but also brutality and cynicism, and at its best, breathtaking honesty. Here’s my full ranking: boxd.it/BWcas 020
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 11/12/2025It was such a genuine pleasure contributing to this excellent episode of @onceuponavhs.bsky.social, looking at the 1988 BBC adaptation of THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, the first great love of my life. Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 11/07/2025I’m off Instagram at the moment, so Bluesky gets my thirst traps, congrats. 2120
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 18/02/2025FLOW: Genuinely remarkable. It’s that special kind of film that, in its startling simplicity, feels gigantic in every way, an ethereal expression of why being alive and connected with the life around us gives meaning to our existence. At times, it even feels miraculous. Give it the Oscar. 030
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Last Saturday, as part of AACTA Festival, I had the outrageous privilege of sitting down with Oscar-winning cinematographer Greig Fraser and chatting with him about his career for over an hour in front of 500 people. I still don’t think I’ve recovered. (Photos: Jennie Wright) 050
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 07/02/2025AACTA Awards 2025. First time I’ve ever owned a suit. 3241
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 31/01/2025QUEER: A pain in the heart, an overwhelming, all-consuming longing that takes you by the throat and never lets you go. I’m giddy, haunted, moved to tears, gently shaken, quietly dazzled. It’s hard not to see yourself in its mirror, feel its fervent whispers in the dark are meant especially for you. 050
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 25/01/2025It’s done. The Disney Renaissance season of INK & PAINT is finally written. Ten films. Eleven episodes. 487 pages. Three years of work. You bet I fuckin’ cried when I finished it. 1180
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Did arms, workout fuelled by anger at the Oscars music branch. 280
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 23/01/2025COMPANION: A familiar horror satire with a contemporary lick of paint, but still not offering you anything you haven’t seen before. I wish it had been bolder, nastier, less derivative, less enamoured with the sound of its own voice. Sophie Thatcher is easily the standout though. 010
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 23/01/2025Tonight’s Screening: COMPANION. Hopefully, like BARBARIAN, this is a nasty, inspired little film and, unlike BARBARIAN, actually lands its ending. 030
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 22/01/2025SING SING: A tender, gentle miniature, overflowing with heartache and sincerity. We’re used to being told about the healing power of art but this is the rare film where that process feels palpable. Maclin has such commanding presence and dexterity, and Domingo is just stellar, truly stellar. 010
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 15/01/2025BABYGIRL: What if Ibsen fucked? A wonderfully thorny, opaque, deeply sexy film, carefully questioning and dissecting the dynamics of power through an exchange built on the exploration of it. Kidman is superb, Dickinson is enthralling and there’s real imagination and bravura in the filmmaking. 040
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Tonight’s Screening: BABYGIRL. The trailer made me rabid with excitement so we’ll see how I fare with the whole film. 060
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 14/01/2025WE LIVE IN TIME: A good script and strong direction elevated by two wonderful performances. The smaller, intimate, almost incidental moments have more power than the main drama, which despite the structure, offers little we haven’t seen before. No more than what you would expect, but still charming. 010

Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 30/12/2024Also, I cannot tell you how much I love Gromit. I adore Gromit. I would die for Gromit. I want nothing but safety and happiness for Gromit. 150
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 30/12/2024WALLACE & GROMIT - VENGEANCE MOST FOWL: Yet another slam-dunk for Aardman’s crown jewel. The story cracks with wit, the animation is sublime and the pastiche of noir cinema is, as always, pitch perfect. I laughed myself silly and gasped with delight. Give it the Oscar. 1100
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 11/12/2024BETTER MAN: Um… this thing fuckin’ RULES. Wonderfully imaginative, surprisingly moving, endlessly electrifying. The central conceit frees it from having to be conventional, an opportunity it fully embraces. There were moments so tremendous, I almost applauded. The unexpected surprise of the year. 250
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Tonight’s Screening: BETTER MAN. I’ve been intrigued to see whatever the hell this is since I first heard about. 020
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 10/12/2024THE LORD OF THE RINGS - THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM: Self-serious and laboriously slow, the change in form doesn’t help when it keeps itself so frustratingly tethered to Jackson’s films. Several plot and character threads are left flapping in the wind. Even Bakshi’s film was more distinct than this. 030
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 10/12/2024Tonight’s Screening: THE LORD OF THE RINGS - THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM. Look, I’m intrigued. Cautious but intrigued. 030
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 08/12/2024HERETIC: A curious film, handsomely made with great performances but the ideas are more interesting than the narrative constructed to explore them. After a strong first act, it starts to flail, never settling on what story it wants to tell or what it ultimately wants to say. 040
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 06/12/2024Making final changes to this damn Masters thesis. 0140
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 05/12/2024A REAL PAIN: Oh so simple, oh so gentle, oh so beautiful. There’s such a palpable mix of hope and sadness here, of the shock that comes when you stop running to avoid facing who you have or might become, of realising you are part of a world and a history. A moving, magical film. 020
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 03/12/2024NOSFERATU: An unholy, depraved, disorienting nightmare, birthed from the fetid depths of the earth and suckled on the blood of centuries. Eggers spins Murnau’s masterpiece into a wicked fairy tale, brimming with sexual repression and visceral horror. I was in absolute fuckin’ heaven! 170
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 03/12/2024Tonight’s Screening: NOSFERATU. I have no chill. No chill whatsoever. I’m fully prepared to totally lose my mind over this. 2160
Daniel Lammin @dlammin.bsky.social · 25/11/2024WICKED - PART I: An improvement on the stage musical in almost every way. The story and characters have room to breathe, the songs are executed with flair and it packs genuine emotional power. I do think it stumbles horribly in the last 15 mins, but for the most part, I loved it. 120
