NFL Network has a special on the stadium airing at 7 pm. (My Boomer Dad who took me to my first Bills game at like 5 texted my whole family to let us know!)

Sorry, but somehow it feels even worse than the whether app says. Buffalo-style humidity!

OMG. Back on my day, Janet Reno came to speak at the College. My fondness is primarily for the English Dept.

I assume it’s not a song, it’s this, like for all of us of a certain age from a certain place… (I can’t actually watch.) youtu.be/GVRNJnJt6hk?...

Even if it’s Venezuela with a chance to beat the US?

I think they gave up after Stephen Hunter left.

I’m starting to get excited about the Bills playing more aggressive defensive scheme!

I believe it’s Robert Ferments Kennedy Junior

Can’t go into Super Bowl Sunday without Bison chip dip!

Try the Sabres. They may finally be mediocre! The pace of hockey is so much fun, with some of the toughness of football.

I’d like to do the same, but D.H. Donald’s Wolfe bio spoiled that book for me because of Wolfe’s editor’s heavy hand after Wolfe died. (Recently convinced my 20-year-old to read Look Homeward Angel, but he didn’t make it halfway through and is now reading GOT.)

Especially funny with them commemorating the feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is not about what they think it’s about!

No kidding! Heyward is not a guy to fly off the handle for no reason.

110

Agreed. Thought that was you! Sweet hat! I’m just now making the connection with your old DC mate, who blended right in with the Brits. What a cast!

Keeping Mack would have helped the Bills and hurt the Pats. Plus he’s good in the locker room. They need a WR guru for the front office!

000

For a guy named Ernie, he does seem cool

That’s Mary. The sound is bad there and that song doesn’t play to her strengths. She’s no Natalie but she’s made good music with them and original Maniac John Lombardo over the years. She also played and sang backup when they did MTV Unplugged.

Can we chance the unis at halftime? They’re not working!

010

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 06/10/2025

Recent Buffalo News story talked to someone at the nearby Home Depot about them stocking up during the season.

000

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 06/09/2025

And it’s open late, because that’s inevitably when you get there! A stinger sub sounds so good right now.

Congrats! Growing up near Buffalo Brothers ought to give Dad a distinct advantage! Go Bills!

Are they filming “Strange Brew 2”?

I can report, much to my marzipan-loving mother-in-law’s dismay, Elk Candy is history. Closed probably close to 10 years ago, did online orders for a while, then fully disappeared. No place else like it.

100

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

Wasn’t the play that got them there a first down?

000

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 20/01/2025

I just can’t comprehend the breaks actually going their way (after the early BS holding call)!

020

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 22/12/2024

Added to the list for next week! (We land in just under 24 hours-SW better have the Bills' game!) Previous rec, Toadies doesn't fit the family schedule, but we did enjoy the Vonoliers while driving in Mass. 2 weeks ago.

More fun to hear Johnny Marr bang out Smiths’ tunes live. No guilt necessary! And James was great with him too recently !

Now let’s do it again in the playoffs!

010

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 03/11/2024

Apparently that’s just not a Buffalo thing. We, and our teams, tend to do things the hard way. (See greatest comeback of all time.)

010

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 03/11/2024

I don’t like writing it! Being a Bills fan sure gives us plenty of practice dealing with (often unnecessary) stress!

110

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 03/11/2024

All Miami’s defensive lineman are hurt, yet they’re all over Allen. And Bills’ defense can’t tackle.

100

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 03/11/2024

They must have updated the story later. When I read it the story explicitly talked about what he did in relation to the social media reaction.

I think this may have come up in Jessica Winter’s The Fourth Child, which I recommend if you haven’t read it. It centers around the massive abortion protests in Buffalo in 1992 when we were growing up there. She also used to live in Brooklyn. (Not that I’ve ever met her in either place!)

010

djkrombach.bsky.social @djkrombach.bsky.social · 27/09/2024

Ha! I forgot about those commercials! I have Strange Brew on VHS. BTW Labatt moved its US HQ to Buffalo a while ago. I think it led to significantly increased Labatt Blue consumption in the area out of typical Buffalo gratitude. Now I want a beef on ‘weck…

I’m finding that in Brooklyn/NYC there seem to be companies going all-in or close to it like Ice Age and Mr. Air. I haven’t priced them yet though. Heat pumps seem to be the go-to in apartments now-especially for retrofits. You see them everywhere here.

Yep! More than 50% higher for January over December on 1/3 increase in use. Supply charge went from 12.351 cents/kwh to 15.124 c/kwh. Delivery increased 1 c/kwh

His song on the amazing album of Woody Guthrie’s kids songs (Daddy-O Daddy!) made that quite clear!
