This lawsuit is brutal. One of the exhibits is the letter Universal sent to Midjourney, including a quote from a 2022 Forbes interview that I bet midjourney regrets

Universal did not permit, authorize, or license Midjourney to copy or use any of Universal's copyrighted works in connection with any version of its Image Service or to otherwise exploit Universal's works at any time. You acknowledged as much in a September 16, 2022 Forbes interview in which you confirmed that Midjourney never sought any copyright holders' consent to use or exploit their works:
Did you seek consent from living artists or work still under copyright?
No. There isn't really a way to get a hundred million images and know where they're coming from. It would be cool if images had metadata embedded in them about the copyright owner or something. But that's not a thing; there's not a registry. There's no way to find a picture on the Internet, and then automatically trace it to an owner and then have any way of doing anything to authenticate it.

More on this btw. Potential way to kick it from your servers. The ID is 1153984868804468756 Remember, never believe an AI bot's claims that they won't train your stuff without permission. They will. #Discord

Discord recently partnered with a Generative AI called DomoAI and apparently they’re in every server but sneakily don't show up in the member list.

However they still use the art/images sent in the server to train their AI.

To bypass this, people have found the AI’s ID so we can ban them.
The AI has already been banned in this server, but for anyone here who has a server or is in another art/creative space, please use this advice and ban the following ID using the /ban command.

It may also be smart to start watermarking your pieces.

✨Thank you Aelestial!✨ your art is truly touching! Looking forward to seeing more of your new paintings!!!!👀 Hello everone, I'm Ally, nice to meet you. I'm an illustrator like to draw animals and plants, and use pictures to tell stories~😆

This is an illustration.A huge tree with leaves of all colors, birds of different varieties and colors live in the tree, there is a cat lying and sleeping in the leaves, there is also a bird's nest with 3 eggs, protected by the birds.

This is an illustration. In a garden full of pink roses, the cat sat on a bench surrounded by flowers and read a story. There were many small animals sitting on the grass: rabbit, puppy, bear, mice, chicken, duck, squirrel, deer and crocodile are all listening to the story carefully

This is an illustration. Beside the field, it suddenly raining!taros running in the rain. The cat wearing yellow raincoat and holding yellow umbrella, is pulling out the taro leaves and giving to the little taros as use as umbrellas. After receiving the umbrella, the taros went home happily~

This is an illustration.A huge dead moose lies in a large sea of pink flowers. Many little animals sleeping and resting nearby it. Hyacinths and tulips sway gently on the sea of flowers. Death and life are so peaceful here.
