It wasn't done. I'm not done. Something has to give, though. Something needs to make me fall in love with World of Warcraft again. Hopefully that's Forever, or maybe that's some surprise story shift in TLT. Maybe it's further than that.

But I know deeply this was nothing but a very sad decision. Not a snipe, not a scheme. Not designed to hurt, or upset, or jab, or be rid. This is not to speak of the fact that I do not think of it as over. Not yet.

There'd be no joy for anyone if I tried to phone it in. I'd have become frustrated being asked about plans and ideas when I had none, would have resented my own lack of immersion. I didn't want to burn out. My mental health hasn't been at its grandest either. It all coalesces.

But while there's relief at having pulled the plaster and faced the music of it, there's also guilt that I've just snatched things away and said 'alright done for now'. All in some selfish aim to relieve my own stress and misery. RV has been a part of my life for so long.

Think it's really hitting me what it means to have put my beloved guild on hiatus for a bit. It's a mix of things, but significant is the complete dearth of ideas and motivation for things to do and provide right now. Midnight really lost me, and it's been hard to force it back.

Does this quest giver really need to be a child? I'm so tired of this sort of pointless wholesomeness around Midnight. It could be an adult; it's quests pointing you to an enemy village and some guff about painting. I don't need this stuff made sweeter by having it come from 🥺children🥺.

Following my recent repost, I am thinking needing fiction work to ultimately be, and definitely end as, something you can call a 'comfort piece' isn't lending itself to good variable story-telling. There's value in the cosy and reassuring, but it shouldn't be all you can handle.

Oh my god, same. I'm someone who still puts WotLK as my favourite expansion. I know it can't be exactly like the past, I'm decades older, but just let there be some of that grit, and awe. I'm not sure how I'll cope with a 🥺pupper🥺 quest in the Storm Peaks.

It's a smallish thing but I really miss when quests given by children was an incredible rarity, like Billy and the Pork Pie. I'm getting just a tad tired of almost every zone having to have the wholesome charming kid quest - especially when it's one of two flavours.

My problem is comparing myself. I'll see some very cool conversations around me, or I'll notice how people reminisce or talk each other up OOC later on and I'll feel a bit like 'oh no, my character was a total non-entity again...'. 😨 It's no one's fault, but shouldn't this worrying be over?

I'm one of them, I think. I went in to Midnight thinking I'd not enjoy the story but hopefully find it ignorable and they somehow managed to crash through THAT and leave me decimated. This is the closest I'd been to saying I'm out if not for having my guild, and still investment in my characters.
