You have every right to know what your government is doing, and they have no right to know what you are diong. That is why they are called public servants and we are called private citizens. Instead, the relationship has been inverted. The state hides behind secrecy, classified files, and redactions while demanding total visibility
into your finances, communications, movement and behavior. A society where the rulers live in privacy while the population lives under surveillance is the very definition of tyranny.

If I rent out the city park for my Easter celebration & say ✝️only, is that illegal too, Greg? Private groups rent out public facilities *all* the time. This is a perfect example of how they changed from fear mongering about border security to fear mongering around Muslims. Next it will be "Papists".
Twatter post from POS governor greg abbott, 'a city owned water park in grand prairie openly advertised a muslims only event closed to the general public. That's religious discrimination. It's unconstitutional. I signed hb 4211 into law banning mulim only no go zones in Texas. The city must cancel the event and commit to never allowing something like it again by May 11th or lose $530,000 in state grands. let this be a lesson to local officials. Facilities funded by all taxpayers are not just for a subset of texans.

You fake a chat that tells your flesh & blood wife you love her B/c you.... *checks notes* need to crush it at the gym? I'll tell you one thing you could have done manually that I'd happily substitute if I found this out. Sweet baby Jesus, robot wives can't be manufactured fast enough. 😂🙄
I built an automation in once night because I was tired of staring at my wife across the breakfast table at 7am trying to come up with 'feelings'. Here's what happened: Last Tuesday, I sat down with coffee trying to write an anniversary card. minutes later, I had three words, Happy Anniversary Susan and a migraine. That's when it hit me-why am I loving my spouse manually?
By Wednesday morning I had a complete romance pipeline running. Every day at 8am chatgpt generates three spontaneous compliments based on my communication style and are texted to my wife automatically. Total build time? one evening. This is the exact system running the household right now. The thinking of you beautiful text she read today was approved from my phone while I was crushing a deadlift. Here's what I learned: Most husbands are grinding on emotional labor that could be automated in a night. We're so busy working in the marriage that we forget we can build systems to work for the marriage. You don't need to be a couples couselor. You don't need a massive emotional budget. You just need to stop accepting manual human connection as an answer. What's one relationship milestone you're experiencing manually right now that you could automate this week?

💙💙💙 These three women were so influential in Texas journalism & politics. Crockett is as close as anyone has come recently in reminding me of them. I wish she's been the winner & we could get some real Senate leadership from a Texas candidate.
AI generated photo painting of Barbara Jordon, Ann Richards and Molly Ivins. Three Texas women who influenced politics and journalism in the state and around the world. Post from Texas Reporter: Barbara Jordon, Ann Richards, and Molly Ivins were alive today, Donald Trump wouldn't be getting a pass from Texas. Not even close. Barbara Jordan wouldn't shout, she'd settle in. "The Constitution is not a prop and the presidency is not a personal enterprise. Power in this county is granted by the people and constrained by law. When those boundaries are tested for personal gain, it is not bold leadership, it is a breach of trust." Ann Richards? Oh, she'd have a line ready and it'd stick. "He was born on third base and spent a lifetime painting it gold, but that doesn't make it home plate. You can plate everything in gold leaf, darlin', but sooner or later folks notice it's still the same old silver foot in the mouth, and no boots oont the ground when the real work gets done." And Molly Ivins would just light the whole things up. "I've always said you can tell a lot about a politician by whether they're selling solutions or just selling themselves. This one's got more branding than a rodeo and about as much substance as cotton candy in a rainstorm." Three Texas. Three different styles Same message: leadership isn't about volume, flash or gold plated everything. It's about doing the job. And Texans, real Texans, have never had much patience for folks who confuse the spotlight with the work.

It insists upon it owns toughness but can barely make it uphill. I know that every car attracts that's car's type, but I've never seen a car so expertly satirize its drivers."

Male violence towards women is consistently tolerated by LEOs, the courts/justice system here & abroad. Often the men are minimally sentenced, or a headline will read "Killer wife". The men doing the violence towards women are erased from the narrative. The language matters. Say it differently.
Women's Day and Women's History Month are more meaningful especially for women like her. Context: her husband tried to sell her to other men so she killed him. Turkish woman allegedy kills abusive husband, becomes socia media icon, "Will women always die? Let some men di too," Dogan told police. "I killed him for my honor.". This is something scholar and educator Jackson Katz has been point out for decades. He uses a simple exercise to show how language slowly erases male responsibility: John beat Mary. Mary was beaten by John. Mary was beaten. Mary was battered. mary is a battered woman. John disappears from the story. Mary becomes the subject. The violence becomes her identity. So I've started trying to say it differently. "I'm sorry those grown men stalked you and scared you." I'm sorry that man assaulted you - and then you were the one told to leave." I'm sorry your father hurt you like that." It feels different, doesn't it? Because it is.

One of my best engineers quit yesterday. Not for money. Not for a better title. The exit interview took 4 minutes. He said one sentence, "I'm tired of proving I'm not lazy". Long pepper versus black peppercorns in Roman cooking (and beyond). Interesting. I'll have to find some long pepper and use it instead. 🍽️ #foodsky #history
From the FB page of Eats History: One thing you'll notice pretty quickly if you start cooking your way through Apicius, like I have for this roman recipe book, is that a surprising number of recipes call for long pepper, not black pepper. That sent me down a rabit hole. What is long pepper, how is it different, and why did the Roman rely on it so heavily?

Long pepper (piper longum) was actually the dominant for of pepper in the Roman world. When Roman text mention piper, they're often referring to long pepper rather than the round peppercorns we all know today. For centuries this was the pepper that defined Roman heat and spice.

The flavor difference is immediately noticeable. Black pepper hits fast and sharp, then fades. Long pepper is slower and warmer. It builds gradually, with a lingering head and a deeper, more complex profile. There's an earthly sweetness to it, sometimes even a slightly musky or floral note. When you're working with Roman sauces full of garum, wine, vinegar, herbs and honey, that kind of heat makes sense. There were practical reasons for this too. Long pepper entered the Mediterranean world earlier than black pepper through Indian Ocean trade routes. For a long time, it was more familiar to Roman merchants and cooks. It was also expensive, heavily trades, and closely tied to status.

Roman medical thinking also played a role. Writers believed long pepper had warming properties that aided digestion and balanced heavy or 'cold' foods. In Roman cooking, spice weren't just seasonings. They were part of how food was thought to affect the body.

Why did it disappear?

Trade changed. Black pepper was easier to ship, easier to store and cheaper to move in bulk. Over time, it replaced long pepper in European kitchens. Long pepper didn't vanish because it was worse. It vanished because commerce favored efficiency. When you cook Roman recipes with long pepper today, things start to click. The flavors feel rounder and the sauces make more sense.
