This would be welcome, an improvement on the status quo, but as usual it strikes me as a kind of half-measure. For instance, I wonder if anyone is thinking of, or discussing, converting a crosstown street (or route of streets) into a non-motorway? (Crazy, I know.)

Yeah. When I posted about this yesterday, they were using IP location to determine which lake users saw — the U.S. one name, and the rest of the world the other. Of course, you could reveal this by using a VPN. Google wasn't even brave enough to commit to their cowardice.

I have, years ago. DuckDuckGo for search. YouTube is a bit tougher, but at least you can watch its videos via DuckDuckGo. The message is: Google needs you *far more* than you need Google.
