Pleased to convene our third annual Black Sea Security Seminar @euiss.bsky.social, this year together in excellent cooperation with Romania Permanent Rep. We focused on how people and infrastructure in this key strategic corridor can be safer and more resilient against Russia's hostile activities.

Russia's ambitions toward the EU will remain intact. My chapter in new @euiss.bsky.social #Chaillot argues that Russia's strategy has evolved but not transformed: attrition combined with noncontact war, not manoeuvre, define its future way of war. Understanding #FIMI requires moving beyond technological determinism, schematic geopolitics, and facile notions of truth. In my new publication, I offer a conceptual exploration of contestation over truth in today’s digital geopolitics, and what policymakers can do about it.

What can the EU do? 1) Support Armenian democracy. 2) Invest more in connectivity. Lock everyone's commitment by shaping opportunities, and conversely costs if peace collapses. 3) Engage in conflict transformation. The durable peace needs a shared sense of justice and dignity too. 2/2

I had the pleasure of speaking yesterday at the @euparliament.bsky.social. I argued that Putin’s Russia remains the gravest threat to European security, and discussed the key contexts (transatlantic, prospective ceasefire) in which it’ll be evolving. europarl.europa.eu/delegations/...

It was an honour and pleasure to brief MEPs from the standing delegation on #Ukraine. The message was clear: Not overreact to performative escalations and rather devise a comprehensive strategy to contain and unpower Russia. On #unpowering Russia, stay tuned for @euiss.bsky.social research in '25!

What a pleasure to have Mark Galeotti, Kadri Liik, Andrei Kolesnikov, Agnieszka Legucka, Anton Barbashin and a great 🇪🇺 Brussels crowd together to discuss domestic politics in 🇷🇺: stasis, crisis or putinism reloaded? By #EUISS

3) The EU should facilitate a negotiation of a comprehensive peace treaty normalising the relations and laying down a path towards future regional connectivity. #Syunik is a key piece in the puzzle here, and speed is paramount.

2) The EU should help Armenia to overcome security deficit and make sovereign future choices. This concerns EUMA monitoring mission expansion, inclusion in the European Peace Facility and even a new CSDP mission focused on FIMI, as well as investment in the country’s economic development.
