Scenes from #coastal #fieldwork this week in a long-term #silviculture trial of #redalder, 32 years old. This trial is part of the @oregonstate.edu hardwood silviculture coop. Moss, rain, alder bark beetles, sapsuckers, first wee skunk cabbage, sun, rainbows...we had a mix of it all!!

Embracing the literal darkness as we have arrived in winter in the Northern Hemisphere. I wish some days to like the bear, and sleep the dark days and nights away. Some photos of a recent trip to NW BC and home on the BC south coast.

#Teabag #wisdom. 2024 has been a pretty tough year, I am quite OK with these fortune cookie-esc blurbs on my teabags.

This isn't a good picture really but the moon looked incredible this morning outside the kitchen window!

#FieldworkFriday. Pictures of mixed forests in #RockyMountainTrench in SE BC looking at old/mature forests to ask the question of #partialharvesting can advance development of old forest characteristics? Landed on study sites to test (exciting) then a #wildfire burnt at high severity (depressing).

Research includes #forestdisturbance #recovery, #adaptation #dendrochronology. You can find me challenging the status quo in #forestry, and seeking the space from knowledge and #wisdom. I repost articles, papers, job postings, ... which are not endorsements. Usually include pictures of adventures.
