Love RCV but this is obviously dumb. I get that i83 proponents were wary of council meddling but this wasn't it. It probably won't change the outcome but a multi pass vote is probably the simplest fix here.

I guess we need more rain, but I really could use a dry Sunday...

For years I took the metro to Costco with my cart. Larger urban households can benefit just as much from locations near the metro. You don't need to own a SUV to enjoy the the benefits of lower prices (and better work practices).

This! Can I have one Sunday?

You can see DC's recovery go flat in 2025 and that has less to do with telework or transportation mode and more to do with the Trump evisceration of the federal workforce.

Can we investigate OCF?

As much as I hate it, Trayon is correct that McDonnell has basically legalized Trayon's corrupt actions. That said, there is no reason why the council can't (1) still kick him out and (2) make a stronger DC public corruption law. McDonnell isn't a constitutional restriction.

Will we get a Sunday morning/early afternoon or is the whole day a wash out?

How is the airport still operating if it's losing almost 2m a year? Who is paying the bill?

💯 This project is supposed to be moving towards construction shortly but there has been zero movement as of late.

Great, so having an east bound station means 25 percent less stress on the west bound platforms and entrances. I'm not sure why that isn't meaningful.

Slow Roads Save Lives @districtaters.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I don't understand how it can be argued that two stations doesn't increase rail capacity. Folks going west go to one and folks going east go to the other. You have at least double the platforms and entrances, which is a large part of the capacity problem.

I'll take it. I wonder if someone from the admin picked up Lyme disease by hanging out in a DC park...

I'm feeling this as 3 "not in service" buses just blew past me as I waited for 20 minutes

The catholic church really want any stairwell hanky panky... Or at least that is what my walking tour guide told me. I for one am shocked more people don't slip and die on those in the winter. It's truly the wrong climate for outdoor metal staircases.

When will there be a more solid track on the weekend storm? By tonight?

I agree, they already expelled him once. I don't see them doing it again absent a conviction (though I also agree it's the wrong call).

I never really understood how they were going to get around that case, but I don't know how impactful it'll be on the trial level. Jurors often don't exactly follow the legal nuances. I'd expect the conviction to be overturned on appeal based on it.

Hey @robertwhitedc.bsky.social and @chenderson.bsky.social, where do you stand on this?

Do we have any sense on where the cms stand?

I may like a Councilmember, but some votes are make or break it. Any one that votes for this has lost my vote.

It also goes against how he operates, he's not the kind of person who strategically retreats.

I think the key question for moving forward is why did they think that? How can we inform current development fights, where at least some NIMBYs continue believe they are stopping Robert Moses yet again.

Imho, the answer is a downtown core congestion charge that charges all plates that cross into DC local streets from the VA border, cross south of Georgetown/U street, Penn qauter, or west via Capitol Hill or navy yard. The money goes to wmata for increased service half downtown and half region wide.

It makes you wonder if some social housing advocates don't actually care about increasing housing availability....

I mean the 51st is the alternative model, but it's fairly narrow in what it can do. Big journalism has always been a business, but the old model is broken because people no longer want to pay. Thus we are subjected to the whims of those who will pay.

I don't understand the argument that it's the same line. One station would be for people going west and the other for people going east. You could even have trains skip the "wrong" direction station after games to facilitate this. It seems obvious that it would help with station crowding. 🤷

Sure, but it doesn't evaluate the same thing. One evaluates the decision that all workers make, while the other evaluates the decisions all commuters make. Those are different things and it would be helpful to have both.

You still can't add it to an android mobile wallet. Most kids have android phones, when will this be resolved?

💯 This.... It's crazy that this is a thing. Decide what water we want to preserve and charge a market rate for water. Get rid of this antiquated water rights system. The biggest thing is all the politicians worrying about alfalfa farms are missing out on so much more revenue from alternative uses.

"You were riding in the morning, or at night, or on a quiet road, or a main road. The only time and place to ride a bike is a time beyond time and a place beyond place, where the space-time continuum is bent so strangely that you are both everywhere and nowhere." buff.ly/bSa1Wm5

This plus every time I need to fill out a form and give all the information to the school again and again. Why do I need to write my address and email on every trip permission form? Presumably the school has it from one of the 5 other forms?

We're at the beach this week. Sunday to Wednesday was miserable, but today it's actually more or less jellyfish free. Current change?

Accountability at every level of government employment. Requesting a bribe should lead to an immediate termination (once verified), the fine is almost irrelevant.

Republican gerrymandering is an unjust partisan power grab that disenfranchises voters, but the very small silver lining is getting rid of this horrible human.

The "Fee D.C." movement is born. (I'll see myself out now.) But for real, DoorDash can't be happy that Rep. James Comer publicly unveiled that the platform supported the Republican bill to restrict D.C.'s ability to increase taxes or fees. It's a PR challenge, to say the least.

All my kids providers charge to fill it out because it takes their time. My question is are these forms useful in anyway or is it an attempt to get kids physical exams? Other places I send my kids, like camp, also require it but I don't think anyone actually uses it. It mostly seems like a CYA.

I'm confused, is the 311 app proprietary? I thought it was a third party application. Shouldn't the developer be fixing it?

Why not just have one rcv election? I think parties want to have a candidate and absent public primaries they'll return to private primaries. I personally like the Alaska system, it gives people lots of choices, and then helps people focus on the top 4 realistic choices.

This is good for DC voters and democracy, kind of curious that it is coming literally right after the most important primary DC has had in years.

If he's going to run, he'll do it now when he has the infrastructure and finances already setup. But It'll be awkward (and possibly electorally problematic) to switch parties again. If he runs and loses, it'll hurt his chances at a payday. I think he's done and cashes out.

This is what progressive abundance needs to be. Seeing the issues and taking the obvious and available fixes.
