Good to see Moyse's Hall Museum have located the Saxon bishopric of Dummoc in #Dunwich, not Felixstowe. (Both have been suggested as Dummoc locations.)

Dunwich Museum has reopened! Our Museum and art show are both be open daily 11.30-4. The art fair is now extended until the end of the day on Sunday 9 August. If you are visiting, use the road to the north of the village, stay away from Dunwich Heath, Westleton Rd & Minsmere. Park responsibly.

The church service planned as part of the St James's Church Dunwich Flower Festival will now take place at 10pm Sunday 2nd August at All Saints Church, Darsham. The Dunwich Flower Festival is still closed to visitors.

There are still 6 fire engines at Dunwich Heath, the wildfire's still a "live incident". Suffolk Fire & Rescue ask non-residents to stay away from Dunwich. Westleton Rd is still closed, as is the Museum for now. Friday's Art Fair opening went ahead as an event for Dunwich & Westleton residents only

Power is back on in some of #Dunwich. Helicopters are now scooping water out of the sea to dump on the fire. The Prime Minister has offered support.

Dunwich Museum is closed today, its activities suspended for now. An "aggressive" fire at Dunwich Heath 🔥 which Suffolk Fire & Rescue has been fighting since 5.30 last night continues. Power to Dunwich cut at fire brigade's request. Stay away from Dunwich for now.

14 fire engines in attendance at a major wildlife on #Dunwich Heath as of 21.00 on 29/7/26. Dunwich Heath Estate and at least one Dunwich home evacuated. Westleton Village Hall serves as evacuation centre.

Dunwich Beach makes "Suffolk's Ten Best Beaches" in the August issue of @suffolkmag - there's even a mention of @DunwichMuseum. Don't go looking for the fisherman's hut in the photo on what's left of Maison Dieu Hill, though - it collapsed a couple of years ago.

I will be cycling the 🚴 Dunwich Dynamo overnight ride, joining early morning on 26 July at Ballingdon Bridge, #Sudbury and riding to #Dunwich Beach. I'll then open Dunwich Museum earlier than usual - 8.30 am, so riders can visit before coaches return them to London. www.dunwichdynamo.co.uk

This mystery beach find handed into #Dunwich Museum, (1st and 2nd photo) has now been identified as part of the radiator of a WW2 Hawker Hurricane fighter plane. A fragment of the cockpit release mechanism from a Hurricane was handed into the Museum in 2024 (3rd photo).
