I should mention that for all of the books I buy each year, I still have 358 on my notify me list that I hope a library grabs them at some point and adds them to libby! #booksky

This is the one she came across. I got her trying because I'm not a big fan of pho, but growing up in Little Saigon, a lot of my friends ate this instead. I'm still a big fan of bánh patê sô pork stuffed pastries and it was one of the foods I missed the most when we moved away for a bit.

There was a time when @tmbg.bsky.social used to play at Royce Hall at #UCLA This was from their last show and I still have so many great memories of it!

Is being set up, or water and food distributed, and the roads are still blocked & cell service is still down, do you know how to walk there??? You might have to! My first GPS was an HP ipaq pda tethered to a Nextel i205 candy bar and it worked great, even off line!! But I still have paper maps!

Paper maps, especially Thomas Brothers or the fold up AAA paper maps! And you know what? If you live in an area that experiences any kind of disaster, (so ... Everywhere!) you should still have paper maps! Do you know where every school, church or park is? If that is where the shelter...

We're just a little bit away from the beach so at 530pm it's not too bad but the little A/C is really doing a good job!

We're home! Appt was at noon, and we're home at 335 so... yeah... it was a THING. The MRI safe N95 mask worked great, there was no music allowed because of the kind of MRI involved and the machine. Only GE's apparently have the speakers....

They have a new Fire Station which is really nice, but the old station had so much... ahem... character! Up until 2001 it actually housed the HAZMAT task force before it moved to 70s. It's amazing the cluster of truck co's in that area, 88s, 39s, 78s (now), 60, 81, 89, 90s, and 60s.

Ok this is weird and something I've never come across before. I just grabbed a book from the Los Angeles Public Libraries Overdrive and it's actually an @archive.org scanned book! #booksky

In my best @charleeh.bsky.social imitation 5 P.M. at Hilltop. 82F and the afternoon breeze is blowing! Haze over Palos Verdes! No lizards, but lots of boids and a bunch of doggos. Around 25 visitors at the overlook. Everything was kind of rough today (shingles vax)...

This weekend we went to the Waves of Ability even in Long Beach at Marine Stadium. No matter what your level of mobility, they had a way for you to get onto the water! Even the heaviest electric wheelchairs were fine!

Climate change is real - and one thing coastal cities MUST do is stop this bullshit of making citizens, volunteers, and city staff fill sandbags like this. There is 0 reason your public works can't invest in something automated! #LongBeach needs to do better! Most places need to do better!

One of the best books on WWII and football has to be Last Team Standing by Matthew Algeo on how the Steagles came to be! Immensely readable and a great primer on football during that era! #histbookchat #booksky

I get the worst skeeter syndrome where the smallest bites soon make my leg flare up in the worst pain. Then someone on here told me about the USB heat pens and honestly??? Bites are so much more manageable and the pain and itching is so much less! First thing that's ever helped!

Speaking of Clodfelter, @hoosierhomer.bsky.social I keep meaning to mention the work of Micheal Clodfelter to you. I think you'd find his book Warfare and Armed Conflicts: A Statistical Encyclopedia of Casualty and Other Figures, 1492-2015 interesting.

But shortly after my chair was down, these 4 came waddling over! You can see how empty the park is, and they just came over and spent a couple of hours next to me and keeping me company.

benches were completely ignored. Even if they'd throw out food or bread to try and get the birds to go over. We just seem to have been adopted by this group! Especially Chicken, a muscovy duck that is so sweet and polite, and her 3 big bodyguards!

This trio, especially the white one decided that even without any food on offer, they wanted to keep me company while I read which was nice. They'd go and get some water and then come back and hang out. It's funny, the other people at the park that were fishing and stuff or just sitting on...

Yesterday was a good day at the park and lake. Scruffy came running up as soon as we walked over and brought a couple of friends too. It's funny because W is the one who always feeds them and I never have until today, but Scruffy and the Geese tend to love to hang out around me as I read....

The trick to #1 is three fold - 1) rechargeable power scrubber wand. After I injured my back on the job, this became a life safer for cleaning the tub and elsewhere! 2) Wet and Forget has really worked well too. 3) Generic Melamine foam sponges (generic Magic Erasers)
