M4A is not going to solve our healthcare problems. It will bankrupt existing hospitals, doctors, and pharma companies. They cannot survive on Medicare payments. They depend on private insurance because it pays more. Further, you'll get denied coverage just as much by M4A anyway.

Current CAFE standards enabled larger trucks and SUVs that guzzle gas, because of a loophole for "light trucks." So, the current system is broken. I'm not sure this is the solution to that problem though.

The existing system can be tweaked somewhat easily. First, make all medical expenses into tax credits. It comes off your taxes 1:1. Then, make the MOOP progressive, with the poor paying zero and the wealthy paying huge amounts. Expand the public hospital system too.

To give you an idea of how severe it was in the 30s, the DOW fell 89% back then from the peak in 1929. Can you even conceptualize what that would be like today? Crime would go through the roof as everything fell down. People would starve.

That paid for the New Deal. It went up to 91% in the 50s. Moreover, the New Deal was not possible without the Great Depression. That is the only way large positive changes for the working people can happen. You have to take the money away from rich people through depression.
