It’s quite the high after playing for so long. I hope to do better in the future (with my awesome team) and maybe appear again! [+Bonus post-game mention]

Something that I haven’t stopped letting people hear was that I was finally in a Splatoon competitive stream for the college league! I got subbed in for the last game they were streaming for the set and I’d say I ripped ‘em quite well :) They even caught my best moment 😁

Ooh! Completely forgot that these came a few days ago, if you remember me talking about these. A delivery was done weeks before that, but they lost my shipment and had to send another one. Quite the pain. What I’ve learned from reading them beforehand is that the number line is a scary place.

Passed the 400 mark last night. Pace is looking healthy so far. Here’s look at a small chunk of my notes that I used around the 300 mark that outlines my thought process for processing numbers. 628 comes up a decent number of times, so remembering is slightly easier there.

Hey, at least I knew about warnings. I very much doubt that I’ll make it to main team and that’s fine. I think I’ll learn a lot from Team 2 and will get better competitively in the process. Next year could be different when I try again. (3/3)

Maybe I’ll use it competitively, but I want to spend my summer getting better at it. It finally offers me a way to get back at those pesky AoE weapons that seem to stop me from having any fun. The best part is playing zones. Coverage is spectacular, which is reflected in my records.

This picture on my phone gave me an idea, so I went with it and produced this. Glad to draw her again after so long and am surprised by my speed. #Pokemon #Ogerpon
[Digital flat color drawing]

TEXT
(Top) - GET AN OGRE VOICE
(Left) - GRAH!

VISUALS
(Top Left) - A picture of a YouTube thumbnail of a man with a gaping mouth being looked at in admiration by a woman. The text reads “GET A DEEP VOICE.”

(Main) - The Pokémon Ogerpon with her “arms” raised at the viewer. She makes the same expression as the man in the thumbnail. Her eyebrows are slightly turned to appear intimidating, but it isn’t very effective.

ANNOTATIONS
(Speed) - Like mentioned in the post, I got this done super quickly, relatively speaking. I love not having to fret over symmetry on digital when I can copy and move a feature over and then draw over it to maintain shape while giving it a slight variation. I love comparing features and swapping them with a few taps. I love so many things about it. I guess the only thing missing is the exact feeling of texture felt I had in my traditional works, but I think I could recover that if I chose by finding the right brush.

(Eyes) - I originally drew this with the official eye shape, but I remembered that I liked circular eyes on her a bit more, so I had to do a lot of working around existing line work to get the eyes redrawn. Worth it, though.

(Cloak) - The cloak wasn’t perfectly “drapey” in my original sketch, so I needed to fiddle with my existing placements later on when I realized this. It was a pain.
Even now, I feel like I didn’t perfectly make it, but I shouldn’t be beating myself up over it. The finished piece is still something I’m proud of and I’m just surprised that something like this came from me.

(Pose) - This isn’t super important either, but I do feel shame in doing a front-facing pose because it feels inherently bland coming from me. Obviously it’s because I’m copying the image, but I still wish I could’ve shaken it up. I considered shadows, but it’s outside of my scope for now.

For once, I managed to draw without being too perfection-oriented and had much more fun than ever. Three messy scolipede thingies and a loose coloring because I thought it’d be nice. Man, I really love bug Pokémon (but I’m more a reptile kind of guy). [Alt text annotations] #Pokemon #Scolipede
TEXT
-Relevant-
(Arrow) - Unseen horrors
(Thought) - Neat.

-Irrelevant-
1 - Bugge; Bunge; Broil
2 - some variation of a confidant, but hardly evidently
3 - Dzæ(tilde)åł

ANNOTATIONS
Attempt 1 - Standard 3/4 turn. Head shape isn’t round enough in my opinion. Also lost on what to do with the exoskeleton on the top of the head. Line depicting it isn’t too nice in terms of placement.

Attempt 2 - Front-facing. I love front-facing art of characters commonly viewed from the side. It’s a must when I go for an attempt of anything.
I struggled with the horns, but I didn’t think too hard to prevent discouragement and left it at an alright attempt, even if they were a bit lopsided.

Attempt 3 - Side profile, facing up. I don’t usually do side profiles because they don’t interest me, but it felt like a nice way to understand the form better if I did. To give it just a little bit more variation, I made our scolipede friend here look up to see how I would go about drawing it.
My aim was to also include more below the neck to get a feel for beginning to show the volume of the body.
The satisfaction I felt after reaching a good point allowed me to do a quick coloring, which also felt good.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I feel much more confident in my output and want to inch my way closer to the full thing. I posted this just to let people know what I’m up to. This summer is my best opportunity in the entire year to get better, even if it ends up being just for a few things.
I don’t plan on super rigorous study, but my sights are set on repeating and improving and not getting stuck.
There were attempts to avoid perfectionism in the past, but they failed. I guess I was able to do it this time around by zooming in to ignore small imperfections and coming back only when I felt well (school often left me with less tolerance for mistakes).

Literally wiping the dust from my iPad to try getting back to digital. Here’s an unfinished sketch from Tax Season 2025. Fiel’s knowledge of numbers only applies to the sciences. When it comes to money, Ssòmilana is the expert. #Pokemon #Lurantis #Whimsicott
TEXT
(1) - C’mon Feef. Taxes aren’t that hard. You just need to keep track of your 224(S), NQRD rating, D-Fund dividends, quarterly fine penalties, income deduction forms 1 to 23, and a statement from your filing agent.

(2) - Simple stuff, really.

VISUALS
(Left) - A lurantis (Ssòmilana) wearing a collared shirt (unfinished lol) is holding up a stack of papers held together by a paperclip looking disappointedly at the whimsicott (right) because of a perceived triviality in filing taxes. The frontmost page reads “Q3 Official Income Measure” on the top. To the left of the heading is the symbol for the national revenue office (to be named by me when it is relevant).
There is a chart summarizing Fiel’s relevant income information. The numbers are legible, but they are not relevant to this description.

(Right) - A whimsicott (Fiel) stares back at her friend in annoyance. Nothing that was said made sense and she is considering throwing her into a mud pit in the northern countryside. If you see this, feel free to say the following to me at any time as many times as you want: “I WAS THERE IN THE NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE WHEN YOU WERE AT THE BARBERSHOP AND I’M PROUD OF IT!”

Heartbreaking: Grown woman with a business degree is reminded of the harsh reality of her inherent lack of an ability to count while attempting to recite nonsensical wordslop (I am very sorry.) #Pokemon #Lurantis
Text:
- Six—uh…
-(Drat. Where are my notes?)

Visuals (and extra details):
Ssòmilana (depicted as the Pokémon lurantis) is wearing her favorite gray suit, despite not ever having to do so because of her line of work.

She has a wide earring in her right ear and does not wear glasses like most others (uses contacts instead). Her expression attempts to convey humor and relatability, but her lack of understanding of what is actually considered funny leads to uncertainty and causes her to perspire slightly, resulting overall in a strained complexion.

Her left arm is slightly raised as she does the hand gesture of the cursed trend. Little does she know that this greatly displeases the gods.

A 6 sits above her right hand (really more of a claw [I forget the correct terminology for mantises], but bear with me) and a question mark is present above her left, indicating a lack of knowledge of the integer that succeeds the third triangular number. This is in reference to the fact that business majors cannot count, save for some of the greatest of the great.

It’s easy to forget that Ssòmilana is employed. Self-employed and acts more unemployed than any who actually is, but she also somehow makes crazy money from investments. #Pokemon #Lurantis (See below for notes)

Let’s just say that you’re not on speaking terms anymore.
You monster. You’ve taken everything from him. Not only is frozen yogurt enigmatically expensive, but you’ve also taken away all meaning from his life (he will forget about it the second he finds something else to eat).

Saying sorry won’t ever hope to match the despair that you have brought upon this world. Was he slightly rude? Yes, but he was protecting more than just a dessert.

What I think of as a mere paper cup of frozen yogurt and various unhealthy toppings was really a metaphor for his ideals and passions.
…But now they are laid bare on the concrete. It turns out that this whole time, your heart was what was truly frozen.

You will not get in Alio’s way of enjoying every bite of his treat. (Extra part + minutiae in the replies if you hate him and want to shove him to the ground for not learning how to share)
Alio (the Pokémon ribombee) wearing a t-shirt of his favorite sports team, holds a cup of frozen yogurt. He shows a very faint sign of discontent.

Text:
“It’s summer, so I can treat myself to a frozen yogurt when I want to.

‘Try some?’

…Get your own.”

Note: He’s truly not such a bad guy. He’s just overprotective of what he cherishes the most, even if it’s just a bowl of cold ingredients.

Found where I had my first idea of Teolt (really just any old plusle at the time) in my notebook. Look at that little guy. Someone should fry him in oil or something.
Since you’re here, here’s some more info as thanks for your attention: I had the idea of a physics lab involving a plusle-minun pair (headed by a whimsicott) for a while, but I didn’t go into too much thought about it until I was doodling in class.
The thought of giving a name popped into my mind as this happened, so I chose to give him a name shortly after.
It wasn’t an instant decision because I always give it some thought, but I still came to a decision quite quickly.
Explaining why I chose these specific sounds to make his name this way is difficult, but I feel like it says a lot about him, if that makes any sense.

In an effort to standardize (and improve) character designs, I’ll be reworking certain ones (mainly ones I didn’t give pants to lol) when I have time. These will serve as references until I can go back to digital to add colors and finer details. First up: Alio Foigatta 🐝 #Pokemon #Ribombee
[Ignore the top writing—or don’t. You can ask if you’re curious, but it’s not relevant]

A traditionally drawn reference page of Alio Foigatta the ribombee (Pokémon).

(Physical Description)
He is facing just slightly to the left of the observer. On his right (observer’s left), his wing is torn on the lower area and his arm is gone down to the forearm. Because of this, his sleeve dangles and is unfolded at the cuff.

There is a small diamond-shaped scar near the corner of his mouth. He has a look of discontent on his face, though it could be his neutral expression. Nobody can ever tell with him.

His left (observer’s right) side is unaltered. His sleeve is folded once at the cuff to expose his simple oval-shaped hand.

Alio now has pants(!), but the ribombee fluff still shows (because I like it). His shoes are tiny because ribombees have small feet.

(Surrounding Text)
The top left area reads:
S: ?
E: (EE) 11/29/25
*It’s just my start and end date for drawing. Nothing special.

To the right above his head, it reads:
“In trying times, try.” - Alio Foigatta

All the way to the top right, there is a small drawing of Alio’s head. He looks disappointed and expresses his opinion:
“Brought me back just to change me… Not surprised, given your track record.”

On the bottom right is a list of his features:
*4 Buttons
*Missing Right Arm
    -Cuff Unfolded
*Puncture in Lower Right Wing
*Tie Below Scarf
*Ribbons End Near Knees
*Small Facial Scar
*Tiny Shoes (for a tiny boy)

The bottom left lists his design alterations:
*PANTS
    -(& Shoes)
*Smaller Wing Tear

Below the change list is a drawing showing the shape of his eye, which is a large white square above a smaller rectangle that is colored in slightly.

There’s not much to say for the former because I’d already learned everything there from an online course I look in high school that wasn’t accepted for credit. LA2 was much more different. I guess the first thing I’ll say is that it’s much more abstract. Check out some of my last homework:

Very low-effort thing that I threw together to characterize a couple of OCs as I figure out what to draw. I forgot to align the left margin, so the “low-effort” part is extra apparent 😓 (Transcription in alt text for those curious enough to read)
I’ll make up for some of the effort by transcribing everything here.

RE: Conduct

Hello Nèalska,

I have just received some information that I have been told to share with you. Following the last audit, a few issues have been made clear to me that I hope we can iron out.

First off, please show up on time. HR tells me that you will not be given pay for unfinished hours, and I world hate for someone of your skill caliber to be undercompensated.

Next, please refrain from informal wear. I would personally allow this, but I have no say in the matter.

Finally, I request that you switch to using your workplace email (@gentek.org). I am contacting you on your personal email in hopes of reaching you better.

Thank you for your cooperation.
