I listened to the Tom Power CBC interview with Darlene Love today, and decided to see what happened to Phil Spector after his murder conviction. Still in jail, he died in 2021 of COVID complications. I'm OK with that. I watched his trial on Court TV; I think it was in 2003 What a little creep he was

The first fire kettle fire of 2026. It's been one of those years. Lots of propane table fires but no wood blazes. (But I do have beer) I'm burning small dead elm branches, to help stop the spread of Dutch Elm Disease. The larger branches will go the the elm disposal pile at the dump.

Low self-esteem as a kid may have led me to develop a habit of looking down. I still carry this habit and pick up treasures during my country road walks. Bottles, cans, loose change, money talks. And once in a while, something cool is found in the gravel. A naturally polished pebble. It's a keeper.

The 4 fish we left in the pond are afraid of us now. The fish rodeo, where 10 of their buddies were rounded up and shipped out, was traumatic for them. I hope they forget the trauma soon, because in a week or two they'll go through another rodeo and be relocated back to the house for winter. 1/2

I finally used my Fiskars 14' extendable pole saw today. A couple of the branches I cut were 5" in diameter and at least 12' off the ground, and I had no problem cutting them. It was safer than an old man standing on a ladder with a chainsaw. Next stop. The elm pile at the dump. Dutch elm sucks.

It was my first time at Merlis Belsher Place on the U of S campus. Our visit was for recreation, watching police dogs and their partners perform. In 2020-21 I was worried that my first visit could be my last, as MBP was a designated overflow for Covid patients. Happy I missed out on that. And Woof!

I broke down today, and picked a 4L ice cream pail of chokecherries off the back yard bush. I couldn't look at the clumps of fat, dark purple berries, barely touched by the birds this year. We have a supply of last years jelly. These berries will be chokecherry liqueur. (Vodka and gin based)
