Happy 200th birthday #Iguanodon! Despite being the first dinosaurs to ever be discovered, it was the second dinosaur to be described and named. This iconic ornithopod was quite wide spread across Europe. It boasts a large thumb spike likely for grasping plant and could be used to defend itself.
Me next to an old “kangaroo” stance Bernissart Iguanodon cast mount at the Sedgwick Museum at Cambridge.A modern Iguanodon on all fours (likely still a facultative quadruped) from better myology and anatomical studies and mass analysis at the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt. Life sized Iguanodon thumb spike cast at the Natural History Museum of London.

On the meme, “talk dumb, get the thumb”

The newly described carcharodontosaur - #Tameryraptor markgrafi, looks a bit as if an Allosaurus wants to cosplay Ceratosaurus.

I haven’t been up on Blue Sky much recently but I’m very grateful for the sudden surge of followings recently. Here’s some pictures I’ve taken from my visit to the NHM London last week to see Fern the bronze Diplodocus cast of the famous Dippy that toured around the UK a few years ago.

I haven’t been active here for awhile, so I’ll share my first visit to the Etches Collection last week (should have visited there far earlier than that) to see the “sea rex” #pliosaur featured on the Attenborough documentary earlier this year. #FossilFriday #MarineReptile #Kimmeridge #Jurassic

It’s #FossilFriday! Here’s the new #Archaeopteryx exhibition at the #YorkshireNaturalHistoryMuseum that other interns and I have co-designed. This exhibit primarily wants to showcase the different Archaeopteryx specimens together and the environment it lived. Can you spot my toy Archaeopteryx? 🪶
