Same image and message everywhere. My guess is because tumblr is just where most of my followers are

So far I've dropped links around on discord, tumblr, and here. According to the analytics most traffic is from tumblr and bsky, with some coming from itch browsing

So far, since the demo just released late last night, nothing has been shared yet from what I can tell. As of this morning there's only been about 6 downloads

I am, yeah

It's meant to introduce people to the game with something small and easily shareable to help boost awareness for it. Everfang is a passion project that I've been developing for a while and something I plan to finish even if interest ends up being niche

Been kind of quiet here lately, but I've been working on a game! And the character creator demo is out now! dinocanid.itch.io/everfang #indiedev #gamedev #furry

I just finished the PDF and webpage you gave me, and while I do appreciate the information (had never heard of these people) I wasn't able to gather anything that suggested therianthropy, at least not besides "I can sorta see how someone from this culture might connect their therianthropy to it"

Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
There are people who want to help, like I definitely want to give other POC more of a platform and help call things out, it's just that when it isn't clear what is supposed to be acknowledged then no one can really help you.

What ends of happening is people mix up "it's similar" and "it has the same roots" and it creates a whole mess
220
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
I do want to talk more because the therian community is overwhelmingly white and POC get overlooked constantly, but every now and then people say similar things with no elaboration
120
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
Although I went more into detail on a different reply right before this one. I appreciate the links you gave, but it's still unclear what you mean exactly. Do you mean identifying as an animal in general? Because in that case, that concept is everywhere
120
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
It seemed like that was the case, sorry. But that is why I was asking for specifics, because without that then no one knows what you're talking about. It just comes across as "certain unnamed aspects of therianthropy is vaguely indigenous". What aspects? What people? That is what I was saying
120
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
There is a reason people were being told to knock it off when a bunch of therians were calling their theriotypes "spirit animals" and taking "spirit animal quizzes" to find their theriotypes. That's a different concept entirely and not for random people outside of that culture to use
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
People from these cultures can and sometimes do gravitate towards calling themselves therians if they choose to do so. What makes them do so is always different, and someone outside of that culture is not always using those same concepts
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
That is a completely different thing from "therianthropy is made of this specific practice". There are cultures all over the globe where the concept of a human identifying as nonhuman, all of which are very different.
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
I'm still reading the links you left me, and while I still have a ways to go (there are a little over 30 pages), so far I have only been able to gather "someone from this culture could call themselves a therian if they wanted if it made sense to them in regards to their spiritual beliefs"
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
Respectfully, that is not at all what I'm saying. Erasure does happen, and it is important to acknowledge, but instances where it is must be correct. Identifying as an animal is, in a vacuum, very vague. It's additional things that can potentially be traced to "this connects to XYZ culture"
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
I mean, hell, I'm a spiritual therian/otherkin and my identity isn't connected to a specific ethnic background at all. Not due to erasure, it's just extremely specific (Resending, because the original reply had one hell of a context-changing typo)
110
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
I'm black and while it's not the case for me personally, I've seen another black person or two that's therianthropy is tied to cultural spiritual practices. Same for asian people, and other POC. Condescending it to "vaguely indigenous" doesn't work lol.
110
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
Wrote this all up in a different thread but, linking to avoid re-typing any of it: bsky.app/profile/dino... But basically, "spiritual therianthropy in general has indigenous ties and it was just erased" is not only massively stereotyping indigenous cultures but also...not correct.
210
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
An example of what someone can do is: "Spiritual therianthropy has ties to indigenous culture" --> Wrong "Some people are calling their theriotypes totems and aren't from that culture, and need to stop" --> Correct. (although antiquated, I haven't seen anyone do this in about a decade)
140
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
TLDR: people need to say "what" and say "who". If they can't name "what" or "who" then there isn't enough context or knowledge to make assumptions in the first place. Let alone try to educate someone
120
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
Spiritual therianthropy is highly individual too. Saying it appropriates "indigenous culture" (there is no 1 indigenous culture) is both stereotyping indigenous people around the world and generalizing the experiences of all spiritual therians in a way it cannot be.
530
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
If something seems like appropriation, be specific. Don't just say "it appropriates indigenous people", say WHO. If you can't name who, that might be a sign to hold off.
130
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
Spiritual therianthropy as a whole having indigenous ties is just factually wrong and people need to stop saying it. If someone sees animals in a spiritual context and immediately assumes it's an indigenous practice, they need to reflect on that stereotype. Not all indigenous practices are the same.
140
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
About 10-20 years ago some presentations of therianthropy were appropriative of american indigenous concepts (calling their theriotypes "totems" and otherwise appropriating cultures they didn't belong to), but those are specific instances.

For ppl who say "voting doesn't matter" (in the US), the government is actively taking away voting power from black people right now because they're afraid of losing the midterms.

Lowkey I hate posts like that

Out of all my posts, the ones actually about my personal experiences as otherkin get the least engagement (maybe some likes, but usually no written responses)

Idk where this post is at, but this is a thing on tumblr too. Posts about very personal experiences don't really get ppl talking unless they happen to have a similar thing going on themselves. I'm guessing because people think it's weird to do fsr

For people who don't know what being fictionkin is like, I Saw The TV Glow is exactly what it is. The movie was validating but also very hard to watch by being a reminder of that.

Would ko-fi be helpful? It doesn't give out your address to people afaik. I moved away from redbubble a long time ago because they took such a large percentage of earnings. I use a manual ko-fi + printify combo that's worked well

Alterhuman is often wrongly defined as either "just nonhuman" or "just alternative human identites", making it more exclusive than it actually is. The community's workshopped umbrellas for years and so far none have stuck better than alterhuman, because they've mostly been exclusive in some way
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 19/04/2026
The thing is, LGBTQ+ isn't universally liked either. I've seen people against it's usage for not being inclusive enough (even though that's what the + is for, and an acronym is less useful the longer it is). There's AHPI, which is the less fleshed-out cousin of alterhuman, so it hasn't stuck
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 19/04/2026
Yeah, people defining it wrong has been a longstanding problem
100
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 19/04/2026
That's what alterhuman already is tho, it's an umbrella term for everything (not everyone likes it but not everyone also likes queer, so [shrug]. Umbrellas are not universally loved, they just get the job done)

Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 11/04/2026
Which I think has less to do with the feed itself and moreso it just highlights a particular cross-community niche (I've noticed a lot of furries that are therians happen to be anthros instead of feral creatures. Not all of them, but definitely a significant amount)
110
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 11/04/2026
Fwiw, do you happen to use the Alterhumans Galore feed? There's more ample therians on here that are furry anthros

It doesn't matter what show, movie, or game it is. If there is a wolf and it howls, super high chance it is the same handful of howl WAVs
040
Dinocanid @dinocanid.bsky.social · 05/04/2026
The thing about consuming a lot of wolf media is knowing that there are only so many soundbites for howling, and once you've heard them all you can't stop recognizing them. It's like the wilhelm scream
