the city on a large scale looks great, some really cool examples of metabolist and brutalist architecture, its just at the smaller scale things kinda fall apart for me.

some connection to the world before even if its only superficial, merely some foam corinthian columns tacked on outside of a restaurant to appear fancy

it needs more contrasting aesthetics for such a chaotic city from architecture to billboards there needs to be some more things that arent trying to be futuristic. its need some older aesthetics because clearly in a place like that just like now people would want some escapism,

im still early in the game so maybe ill see more that will change my opinion, but just from a design perspective despite all the detail the world isnt feeling real to me. i wish it felt more grounded in southern california and not just hong kong but with more palm trees.

ive been playing cyberpunk 2077 and its world building and design feel really meh, like its impressive and detailed but it feels cringe and not in a fun campy way. like it just feel like the stereotypes of what cyberpunk is on a surface level and none of the really thoughtful stuff

oh huh the thumbnail crops off the words here are the words see the joke is that elizabeth holmes mouse ate nathan's cheese and is lying about it in a way that is unnerving

It is a cartoon mouse, like Jerry from Tom and Jerry, shaped like a wedge of cheese presumably because it has eaten a wedge of cheese. The mouse has Elizabeth Holmes' face. The mouse is saying "Why would I deceive you? There's no reason for me to do that."

Nathan Fielder, looking into a fridge where the mouse has eaten a cheese, says skeptically "Okay. Alright."

its wierd that as humans we can make things that last millennia or longer but we our selves can rarely even last a century. that we can make a disposable water bottle that lasts nearly forever but something we value much more, a human life, is so fragile and ephemeral

This is Takara, the troubled spirit of the old steel mill. She stands about 9ft tall and weighs a bit over 1 ton. She is a run-down worn-out greasy terrible beast. Thanks to the help of a wonderful close friend I am finally happy with this design. I will try to ink and color this one.

Pencil drawing of a somewhat anthropomorphic mechanical beast. She looks quite menacing, clearly up to no good.

Howard V. Brown did a lot of great 1930s pulp sci-fi magazine covers. Nevertheless, his June 1924 cover to "Scientific American" might be my favorite work of his, despite not actually being science fiction. I love the nonchalant surrealism.

Two guys carefully paint a scene of a harbor town surrounded by mountains - a scene which they seem to be existing inside, as giants.
