Some good music from old favs out now: Paul McCartney, Boards of Canada, and don't sleep on Spencer Krug

Uncle Albert's Return @dimprecursor.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Paul McCartney's pandemic album (McCartney III) is genuinely excellent, bar a few songs. Haunting and resonant. Recorded at 77 years old. Can't wait for the new one

In the "What historical person would you be" game, is there a better answer than Paul McCartney? He's had every kind of triumph, short- and long-term; enjoyed every pleasure imaginable; and presided over a half-century of music he essentially invented. Hard to imagine a better life

When I was growing up, American conservatives were the "don't tread on me" party. Don't take my guns, don't tell me what to do, get out of my life. I'm not sure that even Donald Trump's renowned charisma is enough to explain the sudden shift to "comply or be summarily executed"

God Only Knows is secretly a 9.9 rather than a 10 because Mike Love's braying ba ba bas are annoying

Uncle Albert's Return @dimprecursor.bsky.social · 12/01/2026

Yeah if even the smarter students are doing it then we're truly fucked. Schools apparently can't stop it or just won't take the necessary steps. US politicians are completely ignoring AI because they are too busy starting fights with allies. The youth are not prepared for the world to come.

110

Uncle Albert's Return @dimprecursor.bsky.social · 11/01/2026

In the past week alone I've edited two essays by 16-year-olds and one PhD thesis on cybersecurity that were clearly 100% written by AI. I do not look forward to living under governments and a private sector that are functionally illiterate
