Nordes 2025 was very rewarding. Here's a short post with some of my reflections from this design conference on Design after Growth, Vulnerability as Rebellion, and Generative AI and Design Education. #designresearch #designeducation substack.com/home/post/p-...

uni.oslomet.no/nordes2025/ Good to see NORDES is back. Let’s see if someone from my workgroup makes it there. Side-note: so much of the current ongoing discussion is about compound crises, which feels both validating, and alarming at the same time.

podcasts.apple.com/se/podcast/w... This is a must listen. Props to @fridgren.bsky.social for introducing me to the concept of dark matter by @indyjohar.bsky.social. We must examine what is incentivized in current systems, and how to encourage positive change of unsustainable provisional systems.

Poetry is an awesome technology, allowing us to communicate what can’t be said with words.

One of my design students told me they are worried and feel hopeless because of the general climate (tough job market, being replaced by AI, all the other stuff..). It’s hard but important to cultivate optimism when the going gets tough.

Really good points. Since I’ve been educating UX designers for a while now, I’ve learn that curricula set the foundations upon which designers build their careers. Where I am, we go for: abductive thinking, research skills, design craft skills, thriving in uncertainty, design beyond 4 profit.
