This guy sounds like a lobbyist not a journalist. He talks about the 'struggle' of Somaliland without mentioning that it's a breakaway part of Somalia which Israel cultivated. Israel's long, toxic insinuation into Africa is a serious problem.

The Ebola outbreak has intensified dramatically since early September, N Kivu is now accounting for nearly 40% of all newly confirmed cases nationwide, up from 24% at the end of August. Cases in Beni are growing exponentially according to MSF. But still no action from governments.

This is such a dumb sop to the European dinosaurs. The European car industry is patching their own failures by penalising Chinese EVs. Britain & the EU *should* be concentrating on producing low-cost family cars instead of top-end SUVs. Instead they whine..

Britain needs to wake up to the long history of Jewish antizionism. You could start with Molly Crabapple's superb history of the Jewish Bund. Anyone who writes about this Green Party motion who doesn't mention the history, is a charlatan.

The Tigrayans are kicking off in Ethiopia again. They're in a loose alliance w/ other rebel groups - it's unlikely to hold. All this will cause unnecessary hell for civilians again. Take care w/ regard to some western analysis that has a pro-TPLF bias going back yrs. It's not useful to take sides.

PRESS RELEASE
Founders Of Cryptocurrency Exchange Plead Guilty To Bank Secrecy Act Violations

Thursday, February 24, 2022

For Immediate Release

U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York

Arthur Hayes and Benjamin Delo Designed BitMex as a Platform to Flout U.S. Anti-Money Laundering Rules
Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that Arthur Hayes and BENJAMIN DELO, founders and executives of purportedly "off-shore" cryptocurrency derivatives exchange the Bitcoin Mercantile Exchange or "BitMEX," pled guilty today to violating the Bank Secrecy Act (the "BSA") by willfully failing to establish, implement, and maintain an anti-money laundering ("AML") program at BitMEX.

Under the terms of their respective plea agreements, HAYES and DELO each agreed to separately pay a $10 million criminal fine representing pecuniary gain derived from the offense. HAYES and DELO pled guilty today before U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: "As cryptocurrencies and technologies designed to facilitate their trade proliferate, companies engaged in the virtual currency economy have become critical gatekeepers in efforts to ensure that U.S. markets are fair, efficient, and secure. The opportunities and advantages of operating in the United States are legion, but they carry with them the obligation for those businesses to do their part to help in driving out crime and corruption. Arthur Hayes and Benjamin Delo built a company designed to flout those obligations; they willfully failed to implement and maintain even basic anti-money laundering policies.

They allowed BitMEX to operate as a platform in the shadows of the financial markets. Today's guilty pleas reflect this Office's continued commitment to the investigation and prosecution of money laundering in the cryptocurrency sector."

European tax payers would cry if they knew where their hard-earned tax €s and £s went in Ukraine.
Katrina vandenHeuvel ~ @KatrinaNation • 4h

Recent polling from Ukrainian political research company SOCIS shows that Ukrainians now regard corruption as a greater problem than the war itself, in part because they link Ukraine's fate on the battlefield to corruption at the highest levels of the state. Fully 90 percent of Ukrainians believe that corruption stands at a high or extremely high level. Most significantly and most emblematic of the shift, nearly 57 percent of Ukrainians blame Zelensky for the prevalence of corruption.
