I actually had a fascination with Boba Fett from a young age... and masked individuals always fascinated me. The allure of becoming someone or something else, a new identity, that you could forge... a -presence-... Looking back, it actually was facial and gender dysphoria, tbh. Sincerely. 100%.

Boba Fett, whose masked, armored, and jangly-spurred don't-fuck-with-me presence always fascinated me - as well as him being the only bounty hunter clearly not very intimidated by Darth Vader, to the point he actually sasses back to Vader multiple times without fear of being force choked, e.g., Vader's "No Disintegrations!" in his face finger wag receives Fett's "As you wish." smarmy clapback, and "What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a LOT to me!" regarding Solo being frozen in carbonite.

The Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear Solid 1 always drew me in, too - a damaged man, kept alive by cybernetics... a shell, but stronger. A new identity, keeping the shards of his ghost held deep within.

The French techno duo, Daft Punk, made their performing career out of being masked and anonymous - Daft Punk is their robotic personas. It is not Thomas Bangalter (left) and Guy-Manuel De Homem Christo (right), the men underneath the helmets and gloves - their robotic personas outgrew them and took on life all their own.

I got drawn into Mushroomhead (right) in the early 2000s, and honestly, their on stage anonymity really helped seal that for me. Slipknot (left) also similarly pulled me in, though they went for a more dramatic personalized / unique flair for their masks from the jump - whereas Mushroomhead initially had mostly uniform masks, and eventually branched into its members having more personalized and stylistic masks to represent themselves.

In any case - less discussed is the next lines of the song, also included - which can be interpreted as the interaction between pre-transition Jax and Pomni resulting in Jax feeling permitted to be herself - to come out - from their combined effort.

The horribly sad thing is that it may have been too late for Jax; he didn't trust anybody to get close to him, given what happened when he tried to come out to his mother. So to have this radical permission to be herself finally was freeing - but only for a minute, before it was ripped away again.

Focusing on the lyric "Less than one minute old", suggesting Jax accepted herself finally and came out, with Pomni's help - but only for a minute, before the flashbangs caused her abstracted form to lose focus and control, going wild once more.
