Light Blue Waves
Taking a good photo of a fleeting moment, such as a rolling wave coming in at the beach, can be surprisingly difficult. Even if you frame it right, capturing the exact moment you want is a challenge! Luckily, modern cameras have a lot of features that make getting the snap you want a lot easier. Once you get the exact frame and colour you want, by dialing in the aperture and white balance, it's worth remembering about shutter speed. Shutter speed is often overlooked, but if you want to avoid the blurriness, a faster shutter speed is the way to go.

Boring photos can have value
For a long time I've had a fascination with abandoned or empty places. What is the story behind what happened here, and why was the place left like this for so many years? The magic behind photography is not in technical perfection, but in whether or not it makes us feel something. A photo that has no value now, might in fifty years be priceless. That photo we thought was of nothing, could actually have greater meaning than we intended. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Moon shot!
A couple of days ago, when I was out taking a walk, I was treated to this magnificent view of the full moon hanging just above this radio antenna. The horizon was coloured slightly orange as the sun was beginning to go down causing this breathtaking gradient... Recently I've been fascinated by taking photos of the moon. I've always been quite drawn to macro photography, a fancy term that really just means taking photos of things at a realistic or larger than life scale, and it just so happens that moon photography fits nicely into that niche. One day I was standing outside and I spotted a beautiful moon just like this, I excitedly pointed my camera at the sky, got the moon into frame, shot my shot and... well, was really disappointed. As it turns out, it is actually quite difficult to take a good photos of what is effectively a bright light bulb against a black sky. This experience sparked my interest in the more technical side of photography and how to use this stupid box to capture what I am seeing better. What I learned is that there's a fine balance between the aperture, shutter speed, focus zone and white balance that makes shots like these possible and I had to really dive into them to get the photos that I want! Anyway, that's it for now. Let's get out there and shoot some more moons!
