Another incredibly talented student crushing it onstage. So proud of my voice student Ashlyn for her portrayal of Rosa Bud in Bergen Community College’s production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Brava diva!!

Only one book at a time. Although I’ve been toying with trying out audiobooks and doing one audiobook and one paper book simultaneously.

Check out His & Hers Music alum (my former voice student) Faith starring in Walt Disney World’s holiday show - Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration. I’m so proud to see you up there belting your face off in front of Cinderella Castle. 🥹 You light up that stage with your voice and your presence.

Gentle reminder to all voice teachers that we are teaching and mentoring the human being standing in front of us, and not just a voice. Their emotional and mental well-being is intrinsically tied to their singing, and we must be in tune to that. Only then can we build the voice.

While you’re sitting here thinking of all the things you might have on your plate today: - dance class - voice lesson - acting workshop - cabaret rehearsal - a literal Broadway show Let us remind you to add one more thing to the list: - making your mental health a priority 💚

Times Are Hard for Dreamers from Amelie is a great song to help young singers find their mix-belt. Mostly sitting in a medium to low range, it pops up quickly in the chorus and comes right back down, allowing the singer to slowly adjust to that higher tessitura without having to sustain it too long.

Student role announcements bring me the most joy! Congratulations to voice student Ellie on landing the role of Catherine in her high school’s production of Pippin. Can’t wait to see the magic you’ll do! 🪄

A weekend full of music! Spent Saturday afternoon singing a wedding, followed by an evening seeing my student perform in the MHS SVPA Showcase. And Sunday was the NJFMC Fall Vocal Competition at County College of Morris. 🎶
