Reddit post said AI creates better & faster designs than UX designers. I replied UX requires research, testing w/real users to get feedback to solve a problem. Someone else replied nope, an adversarial agent will test, review, & create the solution. I love web dev but the industry is... changing 🫠

The Send/Share pop-up for Instagram on Android has had misaligned buttons for days or weeks ever since they added the Muse AI option. This is probably written in something like Flutter and not CSS but I want to `align-items: center` this so bad
The send/share menu pop-up for Instagram on Android, with buttons: Copy link, Muse, Add to story, Share, SMS, Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp. The SMS and Messenger buttons are somewhat vertically centered while all the other buttons touch the top border

Q1: Above the ⓘ but right-aligned to it so it's also over the button it's referring to. If it pops up directly centered over the icon and the text does not clearly relate to the "Rewrite" button I might find that confusing. Q2: Definite no

As someone who sometimes eats avocados daily this has been my go-to for years; I was blown away how little effort is required with the plastic wavy blade. But I agree the pitter gets hard to clean and the slicer is useless. I brought this to work and got many confused reactions at lunchtime.

I love the extra spacing around the options and the way the optgroup looks with the label and border; it's a really good baseline. It reminds me of frameworks I had to resort to years ago to get forms looking remotely close to what the designer wanted.

The State of Devs survey is now open! Turns out I had a lot to say because I've done these "State of..." surveys for years and have never written so many comments for a single one. Felt therapeutic since it's a bit stressful in the industry (and elsewhere) at the moment 💆🏻‍♀️

I've been a web dev for 13 years; the past year I got so disillusioned with layoffs & how much AI is forced everywhere I considered leaving the field. Instead I started doing courses like yours to relearn fundamentals & I realize I still love this stuff. I'll be in my corner having fun w/o vibe code

Fun experiment with layouts: what if cards didn't have to be uniform and perfectly aligned? No aspect-ratio, no object-fit, no line-clamp — just let content be & make it dynamic. Using JS to determine image orientation, CSS column span in masonry-lite layout using grid w/minmax() #codepenchallenge

True but you'd have to repeat the questions and then would you want devs to fill it out on every different survey because the industry moves so fast? It's definitely a worthy topic b/c there's no data on real-world gen AI usage for devs so I hope you continue collecting this info in some way
010
Diana Le @dianale.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
My initial reaction was, "I don't use AI so I have no input" and it wasn't until I read closely that I realized I should fill it out. So I think the survey name is confusing, but I don't know what else would work to get all viewpoints. When I shared it I didn't want to get only non-AI folks either

Google has since patched this in the laziest way possible: by disabling AI Overview for the word "disregard." Other searches like for "ignore" treat the word like a command rather than a search term. I stopped using Google Search over 6 months ago because of AI overviews and don't miss it at all

Yep what happens when content creators (who unknowingly trained gen AI) lose traffic b/c of it and can't afford to post new content? Is AI going to train on its own output? I'm still buying courses like yours b/c I like this stuff & devs are still important, but I definitely feel in the minority

You're also dependent on companies who can increase the price and/or degrade the service any time. I don't use AI for many reasons (ethical, environmental), but even if those didn't exist, I LIKE learning new things. Code reviews can be rough but I like collaborating with people and getting better

Getting back into coding after time off & I'm shocked by how much AI you have to opt out of. Declined twice on a new Firebase project but Gemini is all over the start screen. And VS Code added Copilot chat (even w/o subscription) into the Terminal pane — the ONE place I want pure, correct commands

As an FE dev it's gotten much better with designers familiar with the general flow of CSS. I had issues where they didn't know this, the desktop was designed first and the path to mobile was frustratingly tedious. Some of the most complicated grid work I've done. Also 10 fonts for a 15-page site
