Another batch of #pottery out of the kiln! This time a mug, a pitcher, and a bowl. I was hoping for the mug to be a bit pinker and the bowl to be a bit more amber and green/blue, but I’m overall pretty pleased with how they turned out. The bowl’s glazes will need some more troubleshooting, though.

A baby planter and mug back from the kiln. The planter was a glaze test with Amaco’s Palladium that a friend gave me for my birthday and the mug an attempt to see how Amaco Obsidian and Mayco Green Tea played together. Not totally loving the mug results but good knowledge to have! #pottery #ceramics

A few bud vases back from the kiln! Pictures truly do not do this glaze, its mirror sheen, and its crystals justice. I know Amaco’s Cosmos glazes can be finicky, but I have never had anything but really cool results once I got the hang of how to use them. #pottery #ceramics #Amaco #budvases

A mug with a handle inspired by Scandinavian dreki longships (the ships with the dragon heads!). This was my first time doing sculpting, and I’d love to revisit the idea again. Glazed with Chun Plum and Ironstone outside, just Chun Plum inside to give the dragon a belly of fire! #pottery #viking

First experiment in brushing on glazes has returned from the kiln! Results varied but overall it was good practice! Despite doing 3 layers of glaze on the outside, I think my layers just aren’t thick enough. Mayco Peacock was too thin and pale and Amaco Blue Midnight was too dark. #pottery

A day of firsts for #pottery: first time painting with underglazes and first time using a carving tool to outline designs on a piece! Here’s a mug with painted and carved cattails on the outside, a painted lake on the inside, and a red-winged blackbird atop the handle. Hope it survives the kiln!

Another productive day at the studio. Attached a sculpted bird and slab handle to a mug body, made a 3 pound vase/jar (the most clay I’ve successfully thrown to date!!), threw another mug body, and did some trimming to last week’s work. 🐦‍⬛ #pottery #ceramics

Trimmed a little mug/cup/vase(?) [I honestly don’t know what to call it lol] and threw a quirky vase and a bowl today at the #pottery studio! The bowl is 2 lbs of clay (or was when I started centering) but had a hard time pulling up all that clay from the bottom. More things to practice and learn!

Update: All but one piece survived the bisque fire! Glazed them all yesterday at the studio (and discovered that glazing may be my least favorite part of the pottery process 😂) and left them for their final firing! #pottery
