For @scbsswg.bsky.social, I wrote an essay on why policing strategies such as cost-driven language and punitive measures don't work in human-primate conflict and other conservation projects. Read here: scbsocialscience.org/why-policing... #conservation #politicalecology #humanprimateconflict

I presented my dissertation chapter on Malaysia's competing visions of green connectivity and infrastructural forms as state developmentalism ambitions at the 21st Singapore Graduate Forum on Southeast Asian Studies. Thank you panelists for a generative conversation! #urbanisms #ecology #NUS

I'm honored to be organizing and presenting at our roundtable entitled "Asian/American Hauntings: Ghosts in/as Multispecies Theory." With @radhikagovindrajan.bsky.social and Sophie Chao facilitating, we will contend with power dynamics of multispecies theory and racialized discourses of 'Asianness'.

I'm honored to announce my ethnographic fieldwork in Malaysia will be funded by the Royal Anthropological Institute's Emslie Horniman Scholarship. Thank you @anthrofuentes.bsky.social and my dissertation committee for their kindness and intellectually generous support!

For Anthropology News, I wrote on human encounters with free-ranging monkeys in Malaysia. Language, not in the abstract, but enacted and embodied through intimate encounters plays a part in sometimes pushing for or deterring the notion of care. Read here: www.anthropology-news.org/articles/ret...
The article's title is bolded and written, "Rethinking Deterrence as a Continuum of Care". In the background, a dusky langur monkey sits on a utility pole. On the left, there is a text description of care, the current issue, for Anthropology News. On the right, two macaques engage in social grooming.
