Just installed #Linux Mint on yet another PC, a Dell Laptop with workable specs (I5 8gen) but some years old. I am still surprised how easy installation is, everything worked out of the box and Cinnamon is snappy and efficient. It feels like new. One less windoze in this world, it is a good day.

My 2nd corvette attempt, I like it but the front is, maybe, still too flat. Access ramps placement is, I think, original. #nms #nomanssky #linux #linuxmint #proton

Lots of "switched to Linux" announcements... You have really switched to #Linux when you have not booted into windoze for, at least, 6 months.

Some random suggestions for 1st time #Linux Mint users: 1) Create 2 different partitions for / and /home. 2) Make a 2nd user on your pc, if something goes wrong with the 1st one you can still login with the 2nd and fix things. 3) Initialize Timeshift to make system backups at least weekly.

Random software recommendation: PlantUML. If you need to create UML diagrams (also a lot of non-UML) then you should definitely look into this one. It can be used on the web, stand-alone or (my preferred) as an Eclipse plugin. #linux #plantuml #eclipse plantuml.com
plantuml.com

Easily create beautiful UML Diagrams from simple textual description. There are also numerous kind of available diagrams. It's also possible to export images in PNG, LaTeX, EPS, SVG.

I can't wait to see this new wonder, for a laugh of course. Switched to #Linux Mint back in 2017 and not regretting one moment.

My prevision, with #gnome and #xde making #wayland mandatory: those who actually need to USE their computer will rush to #cinnamon and #xfce because those will still support #x11 sessions. In 18 more years it is possible it will leave alpha stage but not sure. #linux

Good news for users with very recent HW. Kernel 6.14 is available on Linux Mint from the update manager. Gave it a try on a new PC, no problems: ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI, AMD 9700x, 4060TI, Eth, WiFi, everything works. #linux #linuxmint

Best #linux feature? Knowing that your stuff is exactly and only under /home/<username> instead of the "somewhere" that is the new normal. You are responsible for it and fully in control.
