Not a huge superhero fan, and I have nearly zero character or brand loyalty (although I am having a little love affair with DSTLRY right now). The main reason I have read more DC than Marvel over the last couple years is because more writers I like are doing work for them.

I have 4 of those 5 in my to-read pile (now up to almost 3/4 of a short box). I've really been enjoying Mad Cave's spin with Dick Tracy.

Remember that time when you told yourself you're not going to wait to the last minute to file your taxes?

I feel this every time I look at my boardgame 'wall'.

My pre-order was delivered earlier this morning. 10/10 on the Deluxification scale.

Nothing near 40 years of watching hearings, but I've easily watched over 100 of them over the last 15 years and I agree. The most unhinged and unserious witness I have ever seen in a congressional hearing.

I splurged the extra couple dollars to get the staples in blue. If I'm only going to have a single box of staples for the rest of my life then they should be as cool looking as possible.

I wasn't planning on spending money today, but I'll just chalk it up to early Christmas present.... to myself.

2am is also included in 'best work before breakfast' right?

One of my favorite challenges to. Running the game full stealth with no abilities/upgrades.

Let the FOMO flow through you. Kickstarter will not be denied.

It was a very good #1. There was definitely more than one instance of "Well, that sucks".

Don't ignore the comics. They honestly do a solid job of hitting all the Lower Decks comedy and drama notes. I do miss the series though. My favorite Trek behind DS9.

It's not just you. I'm enjoying the season still, but the screenwriting has been a little rough. That 'water' line also elicited a serious face palm from me, combined with the fact that the 'pilot' character had the engineering skills to fashion it in the first place.

I just got the virgin version today. Even among her huge collection of covers, this one really stood out as especially good.

Well, I wasn't looking for affirmation of my pure averageness (outside of my Scrabble skills), but now that you mention my SAT scores.....

Blessed day. I finally caught up on my comic reading back log. I was nearly behind by a whole long box of floppies. On the other hand, that pile of trades that was sitting next to the comic pile........ I guess I should get started on that.

I rarely variant collect, but DSTRLY has been making it tough. I probably have 2 (at least) variants of every issue of every DSTRLY title to date. Warm Fusion has not changed that particular collecting trend.

It truly is fantastic. It easily went into my personal top 10 of all time list.

Darren @dhoff614.bsky.social · 18/06/2025

Not really a super reader, so I rarely buy them (like 3% of my collection is Marvel/DC), but this is definitely one of those covers I may make an exception for. It's stunning.

Only acceptable if they also work 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' into the Universe.

Not going to lie, I had to double check the date of the post and hop to Youtube for the hearing...and there ya go.

Loved it. I don't think I've enjoyed a new "hero"(?) this much since Gertrude started cutting through Fairyland. I really hope Dark Horse and Bunn can keep this one going.

The discomfort I got from reading that is not the best way to jumpstart a Wednesday morning. Thank goodness I still have my LCS pull list waiting for me later. I should be good after that.

It looks like IDW finally found the missing hell dimension movie footage.

If you have seen him speak in any context, 'Warfighter" and "Warfighting" are used as often as common Trumpism's in Trump speeches ( for example, "like we have never seen before"). It is a fixation of sorts somewhere in his psyche.

Taxes filed. Procrastination temporarily defeated (until tomorrow and it starts again). 30 years of tax filing and this is the first time I have ever owed the government money. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

An essential read for those interested in the history of the U.S or Civil Rights Movement. Cory Booker's 25hr. filibuster and multiple mention of John Lewis should be good enough reason as any to read it for the first time.

Darren @dhoff614.bsky.social · 01/04/2025

So I guess that means we should expect to see some heavy shilling for The Expanse: A Little Death on Kickstarter tomorrow?

It was kind of passing news when I went to sleep last night. That changed when I rolled out of bed and realized it was still going. I've been watching it for the last 9 or 10 hours.

The Cull had some great variants.

Darren @dhoff614.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

It's a great format to read it. Dstlry has been knocking out of the park, up there with Giant Generator in pure consistency in storytelling and creativeness. Spectregraph is still my go-to recommendation for new Dstlry readers to really get the vibe of what the creative team is trying to do.

Darren @dhoff614.bsky.social · 16/03/2025

Sometimes art and story just perfectly vibe. Lotay and Snyder just nailed it with Barnstormers.
