I recently had the pleasure of working on a video about the Novation Summit: a gorgeous synth with design roots going all the way back to the 1970s. Full video here: youtu.be/Xx5GRoyyL5A

In this episode of Will It Synth, Dave ( @dhilowitz.bsky.social ) takes on a traditional Korean Gayageum he found in a thrift shop, did his best to restore, then digitize for your listening and sampling pleasure. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJf7...

I’m just nervous I might unintentionally make it say something awful in Japanese :)

Remo should make drum heads that fit perfectly on the standard 5 gallon buckets that contractors use

Fred Poirier & Joël Dollié's work on the free API Drums is stunning. Special shoutout to Fred's incredible programming. It's hard to believe, but all 10 presets are from the same drum kit. Super duper thanks to @dhilowitz.bsky.social & Decent Sampler! youtu.be/Mohhseg71mg

Was thrilled when @dhilowitz.bsky.social reached out to me for some advising on chiptune and LSDJ for his new video! Was equally thrilled to have a bit of my music featured in the video as well! It's a fantastic video go check it out! youtu.be/2Ve984OpJeU?...

I really loved your dad. You and he were both huge inspirations for me getting into electronics and computers. :)

Ah, this is perfect! Thanks!!!

oh, that one is so great! heads up: i may end up cropping the video to make more of it fit on the screen since longform has to be landscape. in terms of timeline, I probably won't "finish" the video until Thursday or Friday at the earliest :)

Is it OK if I show like 8 seconds from one of your "top-down" GB videos (maybe this one www.instagram.com/p/CosbSnygWxX/) just to give a sense of what's possible in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing? :)

I'm also expecting to build a Pico Tracker, but I'm not sure if that will be in this video or not

110

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

I think the video is going to be 50% LSDJ and 50% NitroTracker on the Nintendo DS

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 15/04/2025

Well, it took me two hours, but I've finally put together a tiny snippet of a song...this should be enough to show off the most basic principles of how LSDJ works in a larger video :)

ah, thanks so much for all this! I can see my journey is only beginning :)

Only then would folks who stayed there understand that they are essentially being the boycott equivalent of “scabs” by continuing to engage with it.

120

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

I feel the same way about X/Twitter. Millions of ppl made their own personal decisions to leave, but I would have liked to see some real boycott messaging that explained it to those who are not used to how collective action works.

110

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

ultimately, i think there needs to be a concerted boycott with cohesive messaging. having a million small artists each doing their own private boycott without any publicity is only going to be so effective…

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

for me, the income is almost nonexistent, but they have such a substantial market share that you will lose a lot of listeners by keeping your music off of it.

Dave Hilowitz @dhilowitz.bsky.social · 30/03/2025

For a long time, I didn’t post any of my songs to Spotify and every time I made a video, I would get 3 or 4 people commenting “why is none of your stuff on Spotify” so I relented, but I still feel a bit crummy about it

It's clear that the Trump administration denied due process to the migrants it banished to El Salvador *precisely because* any measure of judicial oversight would've proved their innocence immediately. Deported, imprisoned, and condemned to hard labor—for a soccer tattoo. slate.com/news-and-pol...

We’re Finally Seeing the “Evidence” Against the Migrants Deported by Trump. It’s Unbelievable.

The Trump admin said a soccer player had a gang tattoo. It’s a tattoo of Real Madrid’s logo.

Lousy article that neglects to even mention the reason most people left X: to stop adding value to a platform that is owned by Elon Musk. It’s…a boycott.
