We have 3 movies now that demonstrate what women like (and don’t like) and men will learn nothing lol Women on twitter are lusting after Bryan from the resident evil movie and nobody is taking any hints from that at all lol

It looks fine to me btw, once I saw the gameplay in motion and heard the orchestra I was sold

If we were playing this version of RE, getting the keys from the soldier’s dead corpse could be how we got that AR, and maybe that would be the first combat encounter with the Granfalloon lol. It’s definitely something we would need to do, rather than run away from like character in the movie

One thing I really like is how you can kinda see how the “game” would have played out if our MC was an actual player character. For example the scene with the van, where they need the keys.

We saw Resident Evil again yesterday cause we missed a good chunk of it the first time - they switched theaters and skipped previews and we were like 10min late. Also we started intentionally getting to movies late cause there’s 30min of previews now lol Anyways it’s even better upon rewatch!

Seeing video game discourse on twitter makes me realize that I don’t actually like video games that much lol . Like maybe I should feel like it’s more serious but I do not

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

RE thoughts! I personally had a good time but I can definitely see why people didn’t like it

000

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

…of the mainline games. despite RE4 being a huge departure from the original format, everything I love about it is present in the original 3 games. I would say the same about RE 7 as well. I’m looking forward to the movie! But I also have zero expectations lol

010

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Been seeing lot of interesting RE discourse at the other place and tbh my hot take is that trying emulate the “player experience“ of a game is a valid way to go about an adaptation. Especially for something like resident evil. My first RE was 4, and I’ve been playing through all…

I’m watching a bunch of the CG animated resident evil stuff on Netflix and imo it’s pretty fun! I wish they told more of their horror based stories though. It’s all Leon Kennedy spy stuff so far. It’s well done but not spooky at all. Imo the animation looks good too!!

My hottest avatar take is that we need to be comfortable with things ending lol. I don’t think anything after ATLA was necessary. The later stuff isn’t bad by any means. I just feel like stories should be allowed to considered complete once they reach their end.

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

I do agree that the new avatar show is giving Dreamworks 80s cartoon revival vibes (Voltron, She-Ra). It’s interesting seeing people frame that style as a corporate default in the current discourse. I feel like the artists on Voltron had to fight to be able to use that anime style

Similar to the Laufey news, I’m very surprised to hear people’s takes on the female character in GTA 6? And the male character too. Like…you don’t want to play a game where you are dating a girl who can shoot a shotgun with one hand? That feels like a male power fantasy to me lol

How are yall feeling about the GTA6 trailer? I have never been a fan of GTA so it didn’t look particularly special to me. I wanna hear from people who enjoy the series (I watched someone stream it , I’m salty that they put it on Netflix)

I’m gonna miss you a lot Tim Curry. Between Rocky Horror, Muppet Treasure Island, Clue and extensive voice work, you played such a huge part in shaping my love for camp, unconventional gender expression, animation and musical theater. I’m so grateful I got to live at the same time as you.

I got these Frieza chucks when they dropped but tbh I don’t like the material they’re made of so I’m returning them 😭. I really like the color though. I wish they were just the normal canvas but also I feel like they wouldn’t look as sick if they were lol. Tbh I would keep them if they weren’t $80.

When I listen to the sonic mania ost , which isn’t often -lowkey i just play the original stuff lol it’s so much better than the covers from pre existing levels.

010

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

Tee Lopes is trying to approximate the sound of the original music, while the original music is trying to get as close as it can to sounding “real” Like OG Angel Island song has a steel drum sample, but the Tee Lopes version is a copy of that copy. Still good! just different is all

110

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

We’re on a road trip and listening to Sonic music in chronological order. Charlie picked the Sonic Mania versions of many of the Sonic 3 versions and tbh they don’t hit nearly as well after hearing the OG versions side by side. I think it’s the samples

Okay but for real tho - do I need to commit to trying to learn blender /grease pencil in order to be valuable in the market for storyboards? If I were to try and build out a portfolio, would blender use be a requirement to get hired? Or should I focus on drawing and storytelling sensibilities ?

I’m not saying that those involved with the show have done anything wrong, nor am I saying that the shows don’t look good overall. I also don’t think the shows are animated poorly. It just bums me out that the artists /writers intentions aren’t really coming through as good as they could

000

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

There’s an episode of Batman where he fights a possessed Alfred. Alfred breaks through and asks Bruce to kill him. It’s intense, but the way the shot was animated does not measure up to the moment What’s worse is that this shows inspiration had much better animation in the 90s (BTAS).

100

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

I feel the same way about Pantheon. And I’m currently watching that newer Batman show. It’s like the other end of the uncanny valley , where the characters are meant to feel like humans, but they’re too stiff and restrained

100

Danielle Harmon-Ly @dharmondraws.bsky.social · 07/08/2026

I hope I don’t come across as like, snobby or mean or when I say this but, sometimes the animation for a show holds it back and it’s kind of a bummer. This is a good example. The voice acting outshines the animation so much. youtube.com/shorts/hdIuW...

I don’t mean that in a negative way either. Control isn’t even the first story with those character goals. I just really like that game and it’s on top of mind

The as soon as the villain’s motive was revealed in Spiderman , I immediately was like “this is like Control!(the video game)” lol. I know there’s comics about these characters that existed before Alan Wake / Control, but that was the first thing to come to mind I enjoyed the movie also!
