Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/09/2026True, nobody is actually traveling, but there is still a loop happening and to the one receiving the memories it feels identical. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 24/09/2026That's slightly distinct from actual time travel though. If you're sending information (incl. mind states) back, it's not actually you traveling back. Instead it's the past being's mind being overwritten with information from the future. The person in the future never traveled (intact). 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 23/09/2026You'd still have to be alive enough after stepping in front of a truck to trigger the travel though. Unless you tie it to your vitals. Though once you're dead, can your mind still travel back? 🤔 I suppose it depends on the method of travel. 310
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Agreed. Using no semicolons can lead to unintended issues due to amiguity in certain cases and requires extra brainpower to not make those mistakes. Using semicolons (correctly) will not and requires no extra brainpower. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 29/07/2026What's worse is if a human is accused of being an AI due to one's writing style. 😭 020
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 28/07/2026If I should somehow make it to 2525, I'll give that song a listen again and see how much of it (if any) was predicted correctly. 😁 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/07/2026One of my most favorite stories, hands down. And the manga is absolutely fantastic. 🤩 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Like the Federal Bureau of Control in the Oldest House. 😁 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 29/06/2026By calling it a leopard cat you emphasize that it's distinct from a leopard in size, closer to a domestic cat. It's not a logical name perhaps, but as long as there's a clear distinction between "leopard" and "leopard cat", it's easier to say than "small wild cat that is spotted like a leopard". 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 10/06/2026If they at least all had a "Reject all"/"Only necessary" button. Most have an "Accept all", but force you to *individually* disable every single "Legitimate interest" company. I guess they don't want returning visitors. 🤷♂️ 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/03/2026Aw man, I was expecting the website to actually have that image as a welcome screen. 😄 Regardless though, very nice quickstart page to introduce the awesomeness that is Tailscale to new people. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 18/03/2026No, that's not what I'm trying to do at all. We seem to have a fundamental disagreement over definitions, but it's a bummer that the conversation has become charged and seems to have turned into a debate. Was genuinely interested in exploring the difference of opinion, but it feels futile now. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 17/03/2026The "beating"/pumping of a heart is not exclusive to biological life. A human heart can be replaced by an artificial one that fulfills the same function. Therefore it cannot be said that the mechanism of "beating", in order to pump blood around a circulatory system, necessitates "biological". 101
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 16/03/2026Your example of "running" refers to a figurative and to a literal meaning, so of course they are starkly different. But one could create an artificial lung that fulfills the same function as a biological lung. It's just a mechanism. 201
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 15/03/2026You said: "thats still not the same as a human breathing because *you* are the one defining what breathing is and how to do it" Breathing itself is a mechanism, just like walking. That living organisms do it is not a necessary part of the definition of either of these. 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 14/03/2026You were the one acknowledging that it depends on how one defines breathing. Not sure what you're arguing against then. 🤔 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 14/03/2026I agree, it's not the same breathing a human does and that it solely depends on one's definition. To prevent having to define breathing itself, saying "robots don't breathe like (current) humans do" might be more clear compared to merely stating that "robots don't breathe". 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 09/03/2026There's a difference between "A robot can breathe" and "A robot needs to breathe" though. A robot could be made to have lungs that fulfill the same function as a human lung, despite not needing it. It would then be breathing, though unnecessarily so. 110
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 28/02/2026"... and cross-team execution" RIP Your sacrifice to the cause is very much appreciated. 🙏 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/01/2026With no context, my guess would be: the dead. But I'm guessing that's not what you're referring to. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 23/01/2026"overscrupulous" could be an alternative, but that is more generic than "pedantic". 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 23/01/2026I think "pedantic" is actually a good fit after all, because it's not *necessarily* about a focus on trivial details. The Wiktionary defines it as: "Being overly concerned with formal rules and trivial points of learning" ... "rules of vocabulary and grammar." 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 30/12/2025Yeah, I suppose it's a more laid-back version of James Bond in a way. He gets to sit around a bit more and doesn't have to punish his body as much, but he's still a classy, suave dude going after bad guys. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 29/12/2025And Daniel Craig thought he got out of playing Bond forever. Little did he know he'd be doing Knives Out into his 90's. 😁 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 27/12/2025I'm partial to the Spectre song we never got: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ties...youtube.comHow Radiohead Wrote the Perfect Bond ThemeYouTube video by Listening In 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/12/2025What's your opinion about that with the first Die Hard movie? Many say it's a Christmas movie, but IMO it's a movie that just happens to play *during* Christmans (in-universe). It doesn't have any impact on the story though and could've played during *any* holiday. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 23/12/2025Isn't this kind of what they tried to depict in the movie Tenet? 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 20/12/2025Not once you found the infinitest of infinities! You'll find that no mind or machine will be able to add one more. You'll always get the same number, not matter what you try. And every time you try, you'll feel a ghostly slap on your face. That's the slap of flabberghastion, reality saying no. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 19/12/2025Hmm, if Aleph-Zero is the smallest infinite cardinal, then let's just say the infinitest of infinities is Tav++. 😁 Any time you choose a specific number to represent it and find that there is an even higher one, you were simply mistaken. Once you can't find a higher one, you've discovered Tav++. 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 18/12/2025But what about the "infinitest of infinities"? Wouldn't anything purportedly more infinite than that be exactly the "infinitest of infinities" itself? 110
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 27/10/2025Regarding question 4: Wouldn't lying down be more opposite than sit? 🤔 After all, lifeless objects don't sit down when they're not erect, they're simply lying down when they've fallen over. I'd say sitting is in-between standing up and lying down. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 02/09/2025I've heard plenty of times about a leisurely stroll. But taking a leisurely seat? That's a new one. 😆 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 30/07/2025Despite being roughly the same size, this one has 64 more pages than the one from Ballantine Books. Do you know if there are any content differences between the two? A forward in one, that isn't in the other? illustrations, etc.? 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 20/07/2025God: "How the fudge do they keep finding these wall glitches?" Angel: "We're not sure sir, and unfortunately some keep falling into Hell. We tried to call Lucifer to send them back, but..." God: "But what? Out with it!" Angel: "He's not picking up sir." God: *sigh*... "Alright, get my hiking shoes." 010
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 04/07/2025That doesn't satisfy my curiosity of course, but I can understand it from a PR perspective. And hey, we all make mistakes, no biggie. Even if people were mad at you I wouldn't beat myself up about it. As long as we regret mistakes and try to do better, there's no reason to be mad. Cheers! 🍻 010
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 03/07/2025Just out of curiosity: Which influencer was it, and why was it bad to promote them? 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 14/06/2025Because they're a figment of human imagination. And humans are notoriously bad at predicting the future. We wanted faster horses, but we got cars. We wanted flying cars, but we got the Internet. What's next? We think it's gonna be AI overtaking us, but it's probably gonna be something else. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 12/06/2025Yeah, I hear ya. Though I'd say that boredom is when interest and energy don't align. And in that case, the time and effort to engage in the stuff are not worth it. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 11/06/2025Knowing what goal you want to achieve and knowing *how* to achieve it are two different things. The resulting code change might look small, but the time and effort to figure out the exact change might've been much higher than just *explaining* what goal one wants to achieve. 100
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 20/05/2025I think if you're older you'll start wondering if you get to still see certain things. So it's probably a question that is more probable to pop up in your mind the older you get. 😁 020
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 26/04/2025Panos Cosmatos is one of my favorite movie makers. First watched Beyond the Black Rainbow, which was mesmerizing, but probably not for everyone. Then Mandy, which better pacing and is just as entrancing an experience, maybe even more so. And then his episode for the Cabinet of Curiosities. Superb. 000
Pan @dharmajanitor.bsky.social · 19/03/2025Would they have the same intelligence, body size and moral framework as humans? In that case they might do experiments on labrats that are not like them or animals similar to what they once were. Some might not accept experimenting on any living being for the sake of another, just like some humans. 000
