It's because it absolutely doesn't matter. We're talking about high-end PCs. I don't know a single person who'd sacrifice the performance of their high-end PC for kind of weird shadows. This level of perceived fidelity absolutely doesn't matter.

Capitalism Lab WAS the FINAL economic simulation game. The genre that I love. But I can't trust them now. They also have voices. It's all AI. Lost $35 on a game I can't play or trust. (They also don't have the "3" where you can watch people go into your store but that is not AI related).

I have over 3000 games. But I will not buy a Ubisoft game, I will not buy a Blizzard game. Right now I cannot buy a Microsoft game. And I was banking on indies but a lot of them have the AI disclosure. I can't play new games. Bought Capitalism Lab recently. Didn't realize that it's a lot of AI now.

From my experience, you seem absolutely correct. The first Nintendo console I saw in person was a GBA, which a friend's brother who worked in a pawn shop had. Then it was nothing until the Wii and the DS Lite. SEGA consoles and the PlayStation? Absolutely everywhere.

Still, to this day, people do not *actually* see games as art. There is no appreciation for the unreal, the theatrical, the smoke and mirrors. To most people who play games but are not *into* games, they are a linear art form. New is better because it's *more*.

It's just comic books again. Even my kid's Spider-Man comics, which are specifically aimed at children, have this full cast of characters and backstory you need to know about Starlord. There's like no point of entry. Fortunately, the art is fucking amazing. Mike Maihack is just out of this world.

Being in web dev sucks now. There was this really nice event called Beer.js near me. It's draft beers, web dev talks and a generally cool way to interact with people. They've changed it now. All the talks are about AI and they're advertising is with sending your AI agents to it instead.

And it's not because of me. Been emulating NHL 13 and you can have a cold streak there, scoring a goal is a big deal as it should be. Almost got sent to the minors. I get destroyed in every multiplayer match in NBA 2K. It's not that I'm good at them.

Still have no idea how I beat Max Payne 2 when I was 13. Had a weekend of only turning on my internet-disconnected Windows XP PC and that game fucking destroyed me. Must be because I didn't really understand the story so I wasn't fully depressed and bothered when I got into a level.
