The bathroom was steamy and smelt of bathsalts. Somebody had just taken a bath there. Babyclothes hung to dry over the tub. A red douchebag hung behind the door and over it a yellow lace negligee of some kind. It made Charley feel funny to be in there. When he'd dried his hands he sniffed them, and the perfume of the soap filled his head.
When he came out of the door he found Mrs. Johnson leaning against the white marble mantel with a yellowbacked French novel in her hand. She had on a long lacy gown with puff sleeves and wore tortoiseshell readingglasses. She took off the glasses and tucked them into the book and stood holding out her hand.

got 7+ years of daily wear out of the original leather band - all the wear looks cool as hell but it was on the brink of giving out. new band on and ready to get its own unique patina

one of the cds I scooped yesterday. 1982 artwork - going hard on “it’s digital” - well… it’s one of them new fangled compact discs. tempos pretty brisk on this. upper right says “Music From Ravinia” which I think would be a bad place to record, but it was actually recorded at Medinah Temple

finally finished cleaning and organizing the approx 300 free 45s I got. 80s pop and country mostly, from jukeboxes - accepting these (started with over 700) was not worth the effort, but it is done, so I do random pulls when I have just a few minutes to kill (like before hockey OT now)
