#NerdfArters Day 5 prompt: "Psychedelic Pizzamas," a run-through of my Day 4 "Mola Mola" score. (We'll have to imagine the video with coloured lights, a cut-out of a mola mola on a stick "swimming" through, and other layered instruments, since I was supposed to be responsible with my time.) #DFTBA

✨ Bedazzled Hollywood, Ending is done!!✨ #nerdfarters @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social

The cover of John Green's novel Hollywood, Ending has been fully bedazzled in rhinestones. A regular copy is in the background.

#NerdfArters Day 4 prompt: "Mola Cult", resulting in this outline for an original song. (I'm told they're learning about the "weird" time signatures in high school music this week. Me: "Did I mention my unironic enthusiasm for 5/4 time and rhyming couplets?") #DFTBA

Draft for a musical score titled "Mola Mola" (NerdfArters Prompt Day 4) by Ryan Marttala (2026). Notated in treble clef, D major, 5/4 time, tempo marked "Playful".
Refrain (measures 1–5):
"The Mola Cult still plays in weird and ancient ways; the Mola Cult still plays its weird and ancient ways."
Verses (measures 6–17, repeated melody):
Verse 1: "The mola drops below where colder waters flow, / and flaps its fins to steer across the dark frontier, / to swallow drifting prey shut out from light and day, / and turn the jellies straight to tons of living weight."
Verse 2: "When cold begins to bite, it swims toward the light, / then rises back to lie flat out beneath the sky, / to soak the midday heat that makes the round complete. / With warmth throughout its core, it hunts the deep once more."
Verse 3: "Three hundred million start and scatter far apart, / as tiny, spiky young drift out and float among / the open swells to feed and grow with rapid speed, / inflating ton by ton to bask beneath the sun."
