Today in #MyWildLife: The 1st time I saw a Spotted Towhee, he was barging across my driveway as if on his way to the House of Commons to thunder: “We shall fight them in the shrubbery!” And every Spotted Towhee has been Winston Churchill to me ever since. #spottedtowhee #bird #birds #churchill

A gorgeous Spotted Towhee. He is a stout bird with a barrel chest and long tail trailing his compact form. His head and throat are black, his wings are black with white spots, his sides are a gorgeous rufous orange color, his eyes are red, his beak is red, and his little feet look tiny under his big belly. We have placed a top hat on him, which is perfect as his coloring and shape look for all the world like a waist coat on a fine gentlemen.

My husband’s name is Derek. He asked me if I had any opinions about his name before we met. I enthusiastically shared I liked the name so much at 8 yrs old that it’s what I named the dad of The Sunshine Family (hippie) doll set I had. We pulled up a photo of them & now we can’t stop laughing.

My #bestie of 29 yrs treated me to an amazing “Pretty Woman” trip to Beverly Hills for my 60th: luxury suite, cabana, champagne, Spago, shopping & lots of sucking up. I’m back in my slow & simple life in the woods now, realizing the greatest luxury of all is to have someone #love me that much. 🥰
