Still chugging along in #SilentHill2. I *could* just sprint through the game chainsawing till I get all the photos, but I'm trying to enjoy some spooks for #Halloween and all, and the B&W helps. I *do* have to turn it off occasionally to solve puzzles, though. Like the damn medical wristband one.

I just met a girl named Mariaaaa....🎵 Unfortunately I don't think the black and white does the replacement wife any favors. There's a reason she's the most colorful character in the game, and without it she doesn't have the same power. The environment still looks pretty, though. #SilentHill

Finished up the second season of Primal over dinner. I loved the first season, but this one did not deliver. The first half was good, but once the....bizarre and misguided Darwin episode hits, the quality nosedives and never recovers. Certainly not with the terrible ending. I'm a bit sad, honestly.

On one hand, the black and white mode for the SH2 Remake makes an already great looking game even more fantastic visually. On the other hand, it's so goddamn dark. Even with the flashlight, you can't see more than two feet in front of you. Is this what Doom 3 was like?

Starting up #DragonQuest 7 Reimagined tonight! Had kinda a crap month so far with a lot of frustrations, so something charming amd bright like Dragon Quest sounds right up my alley at the moment. I started with 8 when I was young, so it'll be interesting to see the immediate predecessor.

Game 71: Mario vs Donkey Kong Switch (Finished, sorta.) It's a game of two halfs, innit? The *proper* missions of MvK are a really fun puzzle platformer that just needed a little more DK in them.The missions you unlock after beating the game are horrid little escorts missions that are no fun at all.

Game 70: Halo-Campaign Evolved (Finished). That's a long-time life goal accomplished, to a somewhat bittersweet effect. Halo is clearly a foundational game, in both good and bad ways. There's only so much a modern coat of polish can do to mitigate the old flaws, but a lot of strength shines through.

And part two, four graphic novels (meaning, for me, self-contained, not continually published books) to get to know me.

Blue is the Warmest Color, by Julie Maroh. Largely credit this book for getting middle school me to be in support of gay rights.

Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi. Helped to spark my interest in international politics, and a lifelong hatred of the Mulahs.

American Born Chinese, by Gene Yang. Definitely helped a younger me understand racial politics and identity better. Also my introduction to Sun Wokong, he of the long stick and endless violent solutions to problems.

Batman: The Long Halloween, by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. The Dark Knight Returns tends to be the pick for "seminal Batman graphic novel", but for me, Long Halloween is a *much* better representation of the things I love(d?) about the character than Miller's version.

This one's kinda tricky for me, as I'm definitely more of a trade reader than an issue by issue guy. So let's break this up into parts: first, four single comic issues to get to know me:

Dan Slott's She-Hulk vol 2 #3, where Jennifer is put on trial by the TVA to determine if she's made enough of a difference to the world to exist. Also includes my favorite Hulk moment.

Marvel Star Wars (1977) issue #8, Star Wars' first (of many) Seven Samurai homage, and the first EU story I ever read.

Thor: God of Thunder Issue #5. The finale of the God Butcher arc that cemented my love of Thor.

Doctor Fate vol 4 issue #2. The Khalid Nassour Dr.Fate, sadly mostly forgotten these days, was one of the books that got me back into comics after a long break, especially due to the fantastic art.

Got all the collectibles in Campaign Evolved. Terminals were no big deal, and it's nice to have some extra story context. The skulls though? Fucking aye, what a goddamn pain. No clue how they figured people would find some of them without a guide; just full of arbitrary, unintuitive nonsense.😬

And with those three extra missions down, I've *finally* finished the full Campaign in Campaign Evolved. Got a bunch of stuff left for full completion, most immediately finding the *many* collectibles I missed. I'll wait to give detailed thoughts till I'm a bit more confident in my completion rate.

Also, of the lesser known characters that got a chance to shine, I think my favorite showing was from former Herald of Galactus, Firelord. Guy gives absolutely no fucks when it comes to fighting evil, just turns folks to ash and scares the shit outta people. Fair play to him.

Firelord lectures a group of apparently repentant war criminals, saying that he will forever be watching them, ready to immolate them if they should ever make poor use of his mercy.
