While the Brazilian readout (L) of the phone call between Indian Prime Minister Modi and President Lula mentioned discussions on "unilateral tariffs" and the need to "face the challenges", the Indian readout (R) makes no explicit reference to this.

Not sure about this. Oversimplifying, but India’s top FP priority seems to be getting its language on terrorism in. Everything else after that. And diplomatic capital is zero-sum. That’s why India often goes along with BRICS lines seen as anti-West or anti-Israel. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/18/b...

Cant remember US ever using this kind of language in recent times, even during Pulwama. US Secretary of state Rubio "encouraged India to work with Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace and security in South Asia."

seriously don't understand the confusion among Indian media about the 'six point consensus'. That's how typically China does separate 'packaging'. anyway, just read the Indian press release - it also laid claim to both 'agreed' on several points.

#India external affairs minister Jaishankar give a statement in lower house of Indian parliament on recent understanding at the last remaining friction points on the stand-off with China which began in 2020. www.mea.gov.in/Speeches-Sta...
26. Where the October 21 understanding is concerned, our objective has been to ensure patrolling as in the past to the relevant patrolling points, as well as resumption of grazing by our civilians as per longstanding practice. This is indeed what we have agreed upon in regard to Depsang and Demchok.

27. In a few other places where friction occurred in 2020, steps of a temporary and limited nature were worked out, based on local conditions, to obviate the possibility of further friction. This, I must stress, applies to both sides and can be revisited as the situation demands. In that sense, our stance has been resolute and firm and serves our national interest fully.
