Testing a beard on Falkir and fighting the colour difference between tablet and anything else 🥲

A digitally painted portrait of Falkir without a beard. Regular Falkir.

The same digital portrait of Falkir but with a beard.

A fresh sketchbook! I haven’t finished my last one, just misplaced it in the move. But I really wanted to do more traditional sketches so…new sketchbook!

More sheets!!! And a half gift for my partner who made Totus and needed a ref.

A cartoony character sheet depicting two changelings, Fyr and Totus. Fyr has strange eerie features and dresses like nobility whereas Totus has loose clothing, many tattoos and is extra lanky.

I did it! I finally did a card for artfight!

An artfight card for team mystery.

Text reads:
User: DeviousSnail
I attack: pretty designs, edgy bois and little guys!
I do: friendly fire, revenge, mass attacks
Characters I have: human, fantasy humanoids plus one little guy!

This week’s little art chat challenge was an expressions one. Here’s Eirril experiencing things plus some Dennis.

A cartoon-y portrait of Eirril with an extreme expression of distress. There’s Dennis on his shoulder pulling the same face.

I finally did an actual character sheet! I’m not sure who’s I feel about it yet, something feels off about it. Can’t tell if I just got lazy towards the end and might fix it later :/

A character sheet for Eirril. It shows his outfit and several important items such as his stolen goods, enchanted quill and familiar.

Experimenting with a quicker style for more silly or expressive doodles

A reference sheet for Airis and Erebus in a cartoony style.

Prepping for Artfight with some actual reference sheets for once!

A reference sheet of a Beastkin elf with deer like features at different stages of his life from childhood to his older years. He has heavy nature themes in each outfit sporting mostly greens with some browns. He slowly becomes better armed, starting out with bruised fists, moving on to brass knuckles and a slingshot onto a homemade bow, then a finely crafted one and finally his gristly bow and a staff topped with a shed antler. In the 5th stage of his life he is holding a baby version of Floryn, a Beastkin faeblooded with dragonfly like wings.

We’ve started doing group chat silly art challenges to help build confidence! Here’s the first one! I rolled the outfit on @guidingbolt.bsky.social’s table. 😌

Erebus in an anime school girl uniform, sprinting at light speed, laser focused. He’s not going to be late…and he has toast ready in his mouth.

I tried to post but bluesky ate my comment so I’m trying again! Here’s a little guy!

A character reference sheet of Beacon, a fire elemental blooded student and his demonic familiar, Goo, a very cute salamander.

Finally a full piece of Floryn! Hoping to work through most of my OCs that only have designs and give them a full piece or two.

A digital illustration of a fae flying in the dull rainy sky. They have dragonfly wings and deer ears. They are using magic to create a star.

I need some thoughts and opinions. I've been working on this one way too long. Does anything look off? Or does it just look meh? Why don’t I like it 🤔

A digital illustration of Aeneas and a red haired women, Erelaina, having tea in front of a sunset lit window. The room is dark and lit only by the fading light. The clouds outside are shaped like a skull as is the steam from Aeneas’ tea which he is drinking without worry. Erelaina is staring at him with irritation and displeasure.

That 1am fugue state where you get that idea that's been knocking around for days out finally hit.

A digital illustration of a fae with a bee theme. They have slicked back black hair, yellow tinted skin with black stripes across their eyeline and joints and bee wings.

A new boy! Very out of my comfort zone. He's a shadowrun shapeshifter. And emotion support dog who really loves fights and friends.

A design sheet for Rover Le Pont with a breakdown of his equipment including a modified tennis ball gun/grenade launcher and frisbee themed axe.

Been working on a character for my partners Stormlight campaign this week, so here’s my grumpy, stubborn accountant Falkir!

A stern man with pale green eyes. He wears a black and white shirt with a heavily patterned green sash. His hair is loose and minimally styled.

The same man as previous but in this image his hair is slicked back and out of his face.

Devious Snail 💚 @devioussnail.bsky.social · 02/02/2026

Finally! A post! I designed some outfits for a AU where Airis and Erebus grew up together.

Airis and Erebus with longer hair and new outfits. Airis is wearing a white shirt with red trimmings and Erebus has replaced his cardigan with a translucent shawl.

I’ve forgotten to post in forever omg! Anyway here’s a recent commission (for @guidingbolt.bsky.social). I really need to do more in this style. It’s so fun!

Never actually joined one of these before. Hello #portfolioday! I’m Nick/Snail a mostly fantasy focused illustrator and TTRPG dev.

A digital portrait of Eirril, a character of mine, casting a spell that summons spectral stars.

A digital portrait of an NPC from my campaign. A strong woman with curly hair and freckles.

An ornate sword made of amber and ivory.

A digital portrait of a stone tiefling covered in moss and overgrown plant life.

Finished my practise run of npc portraits! And really happy to see the improvement across them!

A portrait draw from: Armande's murky bronze eyes are squinty and distrustful behind elegant lenses. His hair is grey and kept short, a fine goatee gracing his chin bound by a fine silver ring engraved with something you can't quite make out. He bears an ornate silver cane with the head of a lion.

A progression shot of all four portraits from my last 3 art posts with arrows showing the order they were drawn in. (the elemental, the spiritborn, the human woman and Armande; the newest addition).

One more NPC for the portrait pile! My party have already set her on fire 😓

A digital portrait drawn from the description: Evangeline is a broad woman with her sleeves rolled all the way up over her biceps. Her shoulders, neck, and face are speckled with freckles that are only a few shades darker than the rest of her skin. Her hazel eyes are cautious and wary of those around her. Her shoulder-length dark hair falls in ringlets, pinned back from her face.

Hello! Searching for these duo pieces made me realise I need to finish more of the scenes in my drafts folder 😅

An illustration of a cozy evening on a boat where Airis and Sven are reading. Cuddling in one corner of the room hidden in the folds of a blanket fort Sven is keeping a closer eye on the way Airis blushes at his hands around the mages waste then the book that Airis is doing his best to focus on.

An illustration of a late evening study date with Eirril and Ekris. Ekris is paying more attention to Eirril than the notes. A smile on the blue Tiflings face as his jewellery glitters in the candle light. Eirril is clearly aware that he is not paying attention and bears a slightly irritated expression as he guesures at the notes Ekris is supposed to be listening too the feather dangeling from his ear catching the light in a way that only further captivates Ekris attention over the boring paper before them.

An illustration of two Victorian styled men seen though the window of an apothecary, the shorter dark haired man is shirtless being embraced by the taller redhead. His head is tilted back to look up at the other man who looks into his eyes.

Been making npc profiles for for gming to practice more.

The description the portrait is worked from: Ignition stands out immediately as someone who shouldn't generally have the means to be hanging out in a place like this. They are very clearly magical in nature, what with their hair of pure fire and the burning embers that they would call eyes that sit in the dark coal like skin. Veins of amber fire run under their flesh like ruts of lava through volcanic stone. Three of these veins almost perfectly run between three dark iron studs around their lips causing a near perfect triangle to cross over their mouth. A flash of amber and dark iron can be seen on their tongue when they talk. Their left ear is cuffed in a piercing that curls around the ear itself like flames licking at a pyre. The distinct hiss of steam follows Ignition when they move and looking at their right arm and lower right leg you can see a few clear, steam filled chambers encased in that same dark iron they seem to be fond of. It seems someone has replaced said limbs with some strange prosthetics. On one hand rests a ring similar to the one you saw before on Aeneas' hand, though with the crown's crest on it.

The description the portrait is worked from: Ermryl is a well-dressed and clearly self-respecting spiritborn. His mud brown hair and beard are braided with amber rings. His ears are rimmed with golden hoops that match the two ringing his left eyebrow and reflecting delicately in his hazel eye. While he sings to himself under his breath you can see a flash of amber on his tongue, presumably another piercing.

Working on some sketches for a new design! (Trying to do more process and also post it 😅). I enjoyed the colour thumbnailing!

Some blocky sketches for an outfit design. The top row has 6 greyscale plans for the core shapes and the second row has one of those sketches with different arrangements of colours over it.

A digital portrait of a stone tiefling covered in moss and overgrown leaves

A digital portrait of a human man with strange glowing red eyes

A digital portrait of a fire genasi wreathed in embers.

A chibi of a plague doctor jester juggling medical supplies and a rat.

OC share: what's a seemingly important part of your OC design that is absolutely important to you? Airis’s shape motif of the circle and diamond (also in Erebus’ design) is actually a representation of their family name. (1/2)

Airis’s design with the shape on his lapells and waistcoat buckles. The flower shaped charm made of the same shape hands from his collar and his shoe.

Airis’s mother’s design where the shape can be seen on her belt ribbon and in the decoration at the base of her skirt.

Airis and Erebus together where Erebus’s starburst use of the shape can be seen on his glove and pants.

Erebus’s design where the shape can be seen on his sheath and belts. At this point in time he hasn't formed enough of his own sense of identity to craft his specific namesake symbol.

Tried a painterly style of my boy for the first time. I've never really done anything like this before and I'm so happy with how it came out! I'm excited to try more like this and find my own middle ground.

A digital painting of Airis: short choppy black hair the fringe hanging over crimson eyes flecked with amber that glow faintly in its shadow. Pale corpselike skin pulled tight over strong cheekbones and angular features. An ornate earring hangs from one ear a gleaming ruby mounted in a backing of gold from which hangs a diamond shaped blood red crystal.

Idk how far my style has moved away from my anime roots but most of my personal artwork is my d&d blorbos or party members!

A small comic of a scene from our campaign where the party is harvesting a creature while asking an npc they rescued who kidnapped them. The party members on show are in good spirits.

A scene of one of my characters (a rogue) having taken apart a pocket watch and struggling to get it back together.

Two of mine and my partners characters studying in their universities library, practicing for their upcoming magic exams.

Time ran low for my yearly campaign Christmas card so here's the attempt I made at my characters being put in charge of it instead, happy seasons all!

A poorly drawn series of silly almost stick figures crowded together like a family phono on the deck of a boat. There is a gelatinous cube in the corner, several mini dragons, a larger drake, some mimics and two bone dogs also depicted as shoddy doodles.

I never expected to hit 500 followers let alone in such a spike! So it’s giveaway time! Winner draw may be delayed because I’m really busy right now but I’ll do my best! I’m also going to do some really silly doodles of characters that catch my eye in the comments just in case my time is too tight!
